GUILTY NM - Amalia Sanchez, 1 month, raped & beaten to death, Albuquerque, 28 Dec 2011

He was deported but he came back. This illegal alien shouldn't have been here at all.

My fear is that we don't only have to fear those deported, but also that many being allowed in are not being properly screened. Why is this being allowed?

"A 40-page report, drafted by the Office of Inspector General in September but not publicly released, details the immense pressure immigration service officers are under to approve visa applications quickly, sometimes while overlooking concerns about fraud, eligibility or security.

One-quarter of the 254 officers surveyed said they have been pressured to approve questionable cases, sometimes “against their will.”

I believe some of the increase in the cases rests on how people are more likely to move away from their childhood home areas. In the past you would have numerous relatives to rely on for help. If a mother needed a break, grandma or an aunt, sister or cousin would be there. So many mothers today are not near family. I was so attached to my babies that I couldn't bear being away from them. My first child was 4 months old the first time my dh and I left her with my parents so we could go out to dinner. I was a nervous wreck the entire time, which ended up being only long enough to eat and return. I knew she was being taken care of well but I was also breast feeding and she was very particular and would not take a bottle very well.

Now what can be done to assist moms that need some time away? Wouldn't it be great if we could get some system set up for women that are not near their own grandchildren to be a mentor and helper to new moms that do not have family support where they are living? Is this a feasible idea?

I don't know how feasible it is, and I have no idea how to get it up and running, but it is truly a wonderful idea.

I know how you felt leaving you little one. My oldest was 10 months old before I ever let her leave my side, and when she did, she was at home with my sister. She had to literally beg me to go out. I went to a party with my daughter's father, drove my sister nuts by calling every 20 minutes, and still woke up with the baby in the morning before she could get up and walk across the room to get her.

I've said before, not all male babysittesr, are bad. I had a male babysitter for my kids when it became necessary for me to go back to work. The difference, apparently, between that and a lot of these cases, is that that guy happened to be my best friend of a decade. 10 years, nothing questionable in the least. If there had been, or if I hadn't known him that long, I wouldn't have left him with my kids, I can guarantee you that. And I would never have trusted a new bf of only a short time to watch any of my kids.

I think you are on to something with the lack of support, it seems to be an earmark of cases like this, but I know that is not the entire reason, as there are cases like the woman that killed her twins and then hid the bodies in her parents house, where she lived. I don't know what to do anymore, but there has to be an answer somewhere.

I know it's reported that he was babysitting and forgive me if I missed this, but did it say anywhere whether or not the mother had been in a personal relationship with him?

that seems to be another huge problem, so often we hear about cases where mothers invite men they barely know into their lives and their homes having a romantic relationship, only to have these men harm and murder their child.

May this sub human rot for what he did to this innocent baby.

I was a child of the fifties and you are so right gitana - abuse was ignored and it wasn't talked about. What families did in their home was "their business". Had it been different back then, it might be different now.

Yup, I knew of a lot of abuse back in "the good old days"-- it was its own brand of horrible on numerous fronts, especially domestic violence. I wouldn't go back, ever.

I think child sexual abuse has been around for as long as civilization itself, but this brand of horrific I think is tied to meth, imo. This infant had NO ONE caring for it, NO ONE even capable of caring.

I think it would help if our society supported some childcare centers that ran 24/7 and encouraged "distracted" parents to drop their kids in when they were going to be "unavailable" to parent. I believe we see a lot of these BF crimes because women find themselves with no other sort of support system, so they latch onto someone, anyone, who's willing to fill that role. Preventing these toxic relationships would be a good place to start, imo.

(We also need a support system for kids that are too sick to go to school/preschool-- a care center that is more like a little hospital ward would be a major stress taken off women's shoulders that would alleviate the need for a live in slacker. moo)

The future has a lot of ways to improve the network of supporting children and their parents.

US must deal with child sex-abuse epidemic

(From article above)
As John Salveson, my mentor and founder of the Foundation to Abolish Child Sex Abuse, has said, "Outrage is easy. Outrage is comfortable. Outrage makes us feel good about ourselves and our moral superiority. But unless it is transformed into real action, outrage is useless."

http://articles.mcall.com/2012-01-01/opinion/mc-2012-child-sex-abuse-lerner-yv-0102-20120101_1_abuse-prevention-child

Okay, so what can we do - how do we transform our outrage into action? We have got to figure this out!!

You know...right now, Im feeling like human rights be damned, this has to stop. The irresponsible parenting that goes on is just out of control. Is it time to for Government to step in and issue licenses for people to have children? The license requirements would be a healthy psyche eval result, a job/and or actively going to school (and in school for quite a while, not just enrolled), NO record of any substance abuse, NO record of any crime what so ever, and NO associations with anyone who has a record.

Seem harsh? Darn right it is. But it has to be...too many innocent children are being born to people who just put themselves first, and not the welfare of the child. Enough is enough.

We have something like that here called Sick Bay. It's actually at the hospital in the Peds wing. It's $6.75/hr but i've used it on several occasions when I've had to go into work or I'd lose my job. They took wonderful care of my sick child.

I can't pass a psych eval because I have severe PTSD. I do have a job and I'm in school, about 6 months left until I have my bachelors degree, I was a drug addict for years, but I've been clean for six years, I have a record (not a bad one, but I do have one, for driving without a license) and most of my friends and family have records, once again most of them aren't bad, at least the ones I associate with, but still, it's there.

Bear in mind, most killers have no record, or very light criminal records, and most of them can pass a psych eval at any point before they kill. Many of them have jobs and are in college.

Not to be political and not meant to start a debate, but if we could keep people from coming back after they are deported the first time, this child wouldn't have been killed. I'm just pointing it out, because it relates to this case, but overall, even closing the borders completely wouldn't save that many.

Excellent!!

The cost is very high considering that sometimes I only made $7.50/hr.. it would be nice of some programs had state or county funding.

There are programs aimed at helping to prevent child abuse I'm part of a pilot program aimed at mentoring parents to help them get their children out of foster care (for things such as dirty houses and other denial of critical care referrals).
I just don't know how to get this info into the hands of people who could REALLY benefit from it...

According to the criminal complaint, the infant likely died hours before anyone called 911.

Galindo told Deputies he took more meth than usual Wednesday night.

At one point his 13-year-old daughter suggested they call for help, but he said, "No. they will think I did it."

Relatives came over and called 911 around 4 a.m. Thursday.

I hope the 13 y/o is receiving counseling and has been removed from this home. I do hope this mother is being charged also. IMO she left these children knowing he was going to use at least his "usual" amount of meth.

1 mo. old. So many people that would have given this baby a loving home. It hurts my heart.

I cannot imagine what that 13 year old went through!

Was she his daughter? I wonder if she had been abused also? Evidently she was aware of or maybe even saw the abuse of the baby, since she wanted to call for help. And then being refused, being there for hours knowing what was wrong and unable to do anything about it!

I hope she knows, I hope it is reinforced to her that it is not her fault. That it is totally his fault and that he victimized her as much as he did the baby.

yes!!!!

great, what has he done to his six children? will they get help? likely not ... and they'll probably end up in the system too but at least they're safe from him now

I hope he rots

and I still would like to see some kind of charges against the mother because I have no doubt whatsoever that she knew or should've known he was hurting her baby

Indicted and charged but not tried yet. Thread title should reflect that fact.

And she pointed to evidence from a police lab analyst who found two sperm cells from a swab of the baby’s mouth. A defense DNA specialist later testified that the analyst hadn’t performed the necessary tests for a definitive identification of sperm cells, but Trabaudo noted the police technician had used a special stain on the sample that is diagnostic for sperm cells.

He was also convicted of one count of child abuse without great bodily harm; that count related to an older daughter, then 13, who was placed in a situation that endangered her life or health.

These cases make me want to puke :(

None of the candidates for President seem to care. I haven't heard one statement that confirms that any of them care one iota.

I think we need leaders like John Walsh and Marc Klaas in office.

I agree, but they need to be brought in under the wing of the FBI, where experienced agents can be brought in immediately & where needed funding is available. Actually Mark Klass and John Walsh together with different sub-specialties would be great.
