ROOSEVELT, Long Island (WABC) -- Human remains have been found in the woods of a Long Island town, in what is believed to be ongoing gang activity, federal law enforcement sources tell Eyewitness News.

The sources said the remains likely belong to more than one body. They were found in an area in Roosevelt in Nassau County that police have been searching for two days.

Officials with Homeland Security received what they called a very detailed tip Wednesday night about a body buried in the area of West Greenwich Avenue and Wilbur Lane. It is believed to be a gang-related murder.

Exclusive: Mother fears missing son found dead in Roosevelt, Long Island.

ROOSEVELT, Long Island (WABC) -- Eyewitness News spoke exclusively with a Long Island mother who fears her son may be the body that police have found in a wooded area in Roosevelt Friday.

Lilian Oliva-Santos said her son Kerin Pineda went missing in May 2016. She said the Freeport High School student was talking with a girl on Facebook who told him to meet her in a wooded area.

Oliva-Santos said that's the last time she heard from her son. She said she knows in her heart something bad happened him. She believes he was tricked into going into the woods.

The other day---The human remains have been identified as 16-year-old Angel Soler of Roosevelt, according to the Homicide Squad.

Soler was reported as previously missing since July 21.

On Oct. 19, an extensive search was conducted in a wooded area at the west end of West Greenwich Avenue, Roosevelt, prompted by a tip to Homeland Security that a body may have been dumped in the woods.

Investigators wrapped up their search for human remains in the Massapequa Preserve Wednesday evening, hours after the FBI's Long Island Gang Task Force confirmed it found a body in a Freeport park.

The discovery of the Freeport body in Cow Meadow Park comes less than a week after investigators found the body of 16-year-old Angel Soler in a wooded area of Roosevelt. Sources say investigators suspect the MS-13 gang in Soler's death.

Two of Soler's friends, Joshua Aguilar and Kiren Pineda, remain missing, their families fear they were also killed. Authorities say they will need to use DNA testing to identify the body they found Wednesday.

MINEOLA, N.Y. –Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration New York Division Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan announced that the leader of MS-13’s Hollywood Clique on Long Island was sentenced today to 24 years to life in prison on murder and conspiracy charges.

David Sosa-Guevara, also known as Risky, 28, of Wyandanch, pleaded guilty on Dec. 9, 2019 before Judge Patricia Harrington to charges of Murder in the Second Degree (an A-I felony) and Conspiracy in the Second Degree (a B felony).
