Most of the morbidly obese do have someone living with them, they are the "enablers" who buy, cook, bring the food to the person, shop, bathe, and do whatever else the obese person needs. That said, yes, no doubt there was someone living with him; usually the "enablers" are family members, or a spouse.
Sounds like this guy was pretty independant though. Some of the later articles quote a neighbor lady saying she last saw him returning home with groceries. They also say a neighbor (same one I think) did in fact call the police after she kept knocking on his door without a response, then noticed a horrific smell.
