May I please ask again was it about 5 months since this Jane Doe died? Who is saying this? Who are they saying is on her case now?

By definition mummified means shriveled up. I am no expert on mummification but I understand if a body is left in a hot dry climate and there are no animals to consume it the body will mummify.
So there was shriveled skin on this decedent. It was probably exposed to the elements throughout the summer of 1983 before it was found.
