grandparents and hubby have come to a resolution on the visitation. Very interesting comment after the article

Quote from grandparents from that article, that I found interesting:

“I've changed every diaper…and bathed her and taken care of her when Brittany was at work every day," Mary said. "Even when Shane was not working, Brittany would bring her here. Brittany would say, 'Mom, I want her with you and I know she'll be well taken care of.'"

Some indications of progress and maybe a hint as to what happened. Family seems to think that someone may have been trying to get even with the hubby for something.

I am glad there has been some progress. I was visiting the area when this happened. The story broke my heart and I have not stopped thinking about her and her daughter, along with the whole family. Glad to find a place to get updates.

Deputies have also been able to eliminate potential suspects, including Stykes' husband and another man, Schadle said.

About the grand jury meetings: nothing made public..

“The big problem...,” Schadle said recently, “...is that we feel there are people we know are refusing to talk to us. They are not guilty of anything, but could give us some information that could help put the pieces together and won't do it.”

Nice Picture of Brittany at link.

A federal agency is now working on the case. LE would not say which agency though.. but it has to do with a POI involved in the case. $10,000 reward. Cute recent pictures of baby Aubree in video.

About the feds getting in on the murder case, father Dave Dodson says, "With federal agents, I believe the case is going to go somewhere. They have more resources available. This gives me hope."

Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of Brittany Stykes’ death... Stykes' friends and family members held a vigil in her memory Thursday night...

Lead detective on the case, Sgt. Buddy Moore was also there and said he talks to the Dodson family every day...

Moore said he was very confident detectives would make an arrest and give the Dodson family the call they’ve been waiting a year for. “The past two days on this case have been good. Is it enough to solve the case? Not yet. But again, the puzzle is coming together. We're getting pieces to put in that puzzle,” Moore said. The detective said he did not believe the bullets were for Stykes and her daughter.

The day Brittany was shot she was on her way to see her father for his birthday. She was driving her husband's Jeep. Some think the killer was after her husband Shane and shot Brittany by mistake. That seems a little hard to believe as Brittany had a full head of thick flowing brown hair, whereas Shane is bald. Then again Shane usually drove the Jeep that was yellow with a black soft top, maybe they could not see inside well. Shane thinks knows who the killer is, but that man has been cleared by LE.

Detective Moore said, "The leads come back to the same circle. Every lead we received in the last seven months has taken us to the same circle of people."

Also from OkieGranny's link: Shane is not letting Brittany's parent see their grandchild again so they are going back to court.

Investigators raid Northern Kentucky home in search of evidence in Brittany Stykes case

http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news...in-search-of-evidence-in-brittany-stykes-case

Brown County Sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from Kentucky State Police, executed a search warrant at about 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Hogg Ridge Road in Falmouth.

Investigators carried metal detectors and shovels during the raid and removed evidence from the home.

Smith would not say what authorities removed, but said it would be presented to a grand jury.

nvestigators have recently said they think they know who killed Stykes. They wouldn't say who, only that it was someone who was owed money. Investigators said the killer wanted to make a point but added neither Brittany or her husband Shane, was the person who owed the killer.

The Jeep Brittany was driving that day stands out, it would be hard to mistake that Jeep for another. Maybe someone borrowed it or a former owner of the Jeep owed money to the killer?

I had forgotten about this case until I seen the articles yesterday, didn't realize it had been over two years already. Good point about the Jeep, could have been another driver or owner. I was thinking a friend of the victim or her husband might have crossed someone and the perp couldn't get at the friend for whatever reason so they settled for Brittany or her husband. Whatever led to it, sounds like they (LE) could be about to drop the hammer on somebody.

CINCINNATI – Bad blood between Brittany Stykes' husband and the family of the murdered Brown County mother spilled out over the radio waves Thursday.

Shane Stykes called Brittany's parents "idiots" – and worse - for accusing him of having something to do with her fatal shooting, the wounding of their 1-year-old daughter and the death of Brittany's unborn child on a rural highway two years ago.

"All I can say is thank god it's not me that has to look in the mirror and realize I'm a dumb *advertiser censored* every day," Stykes said on WEBN.

Stykes and Brittany's uncle Bill Pack got into name-calling on Chris Kidd's morning show, with Brittany's uncle blaming Stykes for creating bitterness between them and saying he still thinks Stykes was somehow involved in the shooting, even though Stykes took a polygraph test and was cleared.

GEORGETOWN, Ohio — One of the last things Brittany Stykes saw before she was shot and killed on August 28, 2013, was a flashing blue light.

She thought she was being pulled over by police.

That’s according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the I-Team Friday that includes witness statements that for the first time detail what might have happened to Stykes. The paint a picture of a case of murder, money and “payback.”

According to the affidavit, that witness is a female informant who came forward in June with new information in the 2013 homicide. The woman brought detectives a suspect, a motive and had knowledge of the case that went “well beyond that of the general public,” investigators said.

WCPO is not revealing the name of the suspect because he has not been charged.

From rosie_lee's article above:

The suspect is in jail on unrelated charges, acted nervous when questioned about Brittany's murder. The "informant/ ex-girlfriend" was with the suspect at the time of the murder. She most likely feels safer to come forward now that he is in custody. The "killer" had been paid by someone to kill "Brit" because her "old man" owed money.

Also LE removed 10 cell phones during the search they recently conducted.

A search warrant filed for a Northern Kentucky home describes a possible suspect in the shooting death of a Brown County woman.

The warrant served for a Hogg Ridge Road home this week includes a description of what a "cooperating witness" told investigators is the death of Brittany Stykes.

“There are a lot of twist and turns in this case and sometimes it's hard to follow along if you are reading around it we really didn't want this to come out in this fashion,” Brown County Chief Deputy Sheriff Carl Smith said.

[...]

The witness said she was with the man on Aug. 28, 2013 when he spotted Stykes driving Stykes' husband's Jeep and followed her on U.S. 68. The witness said eventually he pulled out a portable blue light, plugged it in and waved Stykes to pull over.

At that point, the man got out of his car, walked up to the Jeep and fired several shots into it, the witness said. She told investigators she looked in the Jeep's window and saw a bloody woman.

The witness said the man told her the shooting was "payback for her 'old man' not paying (the man) money that he was owed." The court document states that the man told the witness he was given two $10,000 payments for killing Stykes.

Brittany's parents give a brief interview in this article.

I am trying to wrap my head around this suggested motive. Killing BS to get back at SS. Okay, I can actually understand that type of motive. But then someone was supposedly paid to kill her to get back at SS because he owed someone money?

So someone is owed money, yet they spend money (thousands, allegedly) to get back at SS??

MOO. (My first MOO!)

SS must have owed a LOT of $$$$$$.

The "old man" could be someone's father? Or the unnamed killer could have told his girlfriend he killed Brittany due to a debt but maybe he really had other reasons for the murder he did not want to disclose.
