According to this record William John Posey has been released from the Butner Federal Medical Center on April 19, 2011.

Date Released: The inmate is no longer in BOP custody, but may still be on parole or some other type of correctional supervision, or in the custody of some other jurisdiction.
 
It is easily seen that this young lady was very much loved by many. Her disappearance and apparent murder are widely felt even to this day. It has long amazed me how someone could be taken from a place as busy and as active as a college campus - even in late-night or early-morning hours - without anyone noticing it. I think some of this is due to the pre-planning of those who commit such evil acts. For example, Ted Bundy used a Volkswagon that was missing a seat which made it easier to transport a body from the scene of his attack. I liken those type of individuals to a shark. They cruise about watching for that one lone victim. As beautiful as the world is, there will always be those like that. It makes it all the more important to be vigilant and cautious wherever we go.

May I say that it was a very caring attempt by the poster to write to try and have the suspected person confess to Miss Martins' murder. Because there was no response, it may never be known what his reaction was. Even experienced detectives, who have confronted such individuals about past possible crimes, many times don't know what effect, if any, such attempts made.
 
Wondering if anyone is still in touch with Judy's sister or friends and if her information and DNA have been submitted to NAMUS.

Right now, the current lack of identifying information about Judy could be an impediment to resolution...and my heart breaks for her siblings who must carry this in their hearts and minds every day.

Judy was 22 years old, 5'4" tall and 120 Lbs.
Black hair, hazel eyes and wore contacts or glasses.


I researched Judy Martins and haven't found her listed in Namus, The Doe Network, or the Ohio Missing Persons Web site. I'm wondering if her body was recovered. Her case isn't listed in the Ohio Unsolved murders either.

I wonder if she wasn't listed on namus or the Doe Network because her abduction took place on the campus of Kent State University and University police handled the investigation. In that case, if she hasn't been found there is a chance her body has been located and is unidentified.

I've posted a lot on this case, and am glad to see some renewed interest.

Judy's body has never been found. Her parents are deceased, but her brother and sister are still alive and would definitely welcome a solution to this disappearance.

In previous posts I've mentioned my thoughts about convicted serial kidnapper/murderer William Posey. Any ideas about that would be appreciated.

This should be solvable.
 
Was searching for this thread-glad I found it. It is a shame that the cops didn't take this case seriously.
 
I clicked on this case because the name sounded vaguely familiar and subsequently realized that's because the POI mentioned above admitted to murdering Iris Brown in Vermont in 1976.

As you can see from the Doe Network profile I think Iris and Judy resemble one another. Here's Iris's case: http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/2578dfvt.html That might be significant, might not.

I am going to guess at what happened to Judy. She was abducted, forced into hooking and drug use. I think that was her at the police station-a mother always knows her kid. I also think Judy is dead now. I don't think Posey was involved, but I do think the cops dropped the ball on this in a big, very supspicious way. Kent State should be sued for negligence.
 
You would hope that newspaper article might result in some tips coming in from people about the case. The woman being arrested in Cuyahoga County two years later is certainly interesting.

Here's a pretty recent (may 26, 2013) and detailed article about the case.

Police Chief John Peach does confirms much of the evidence/records have been disposed of. Peach also stated that it was never classified a crime.

The boyfriend that was mentioned earlier was ruled out as a suspect after passing a polygraph.

Many of her belongings were still in her dorm.

2 years after her disappearance a prostitute by the name of Judy Martinez was arrested in Cleveland. Apparently, she gave Judy's birth date as she was being booked for prostitution charges. She looked similar to Judy and it says Judy's mom was adamant that it was her and the father took one look and said it wasn't. Either way Judy Martinez was ruled out because of dental records.

The psychic was also confirmed in the article.

My husband was friends with Judy and still speaks of her today. He also knew her ex-boyfriend. He stayed in touch with Judy's mom until she passed. He never suspected the ex-boyfriend but rather thought that it was due to some drug dealings regarding the ex-boyfriend. That whatever it was was taken out on her......my husband always said she was a really great person and he also said there was no way she would have just taken off......there was also some speculation that it might have been a motorcycle gang and that she was either being passed around or "disposed of". A missing case that was recently solved in Akron brought her to mind.

The last time I checked on him, Posey was in the medical unit of the hospital. I don't know what his medical situation is now.

I have written to him a few times, asking him about Judy. I've never heard a word from him.

I really think he's the guy who could tell us what happened to Judy. JMO
 
there's a spattering of missing persons cases from Kent Ohio around this time I've read about over the years...I seem to recall one of a male sometime in the 70s...

being from here knowing the size of the town around that time....odd
