I agree AngelaH But I did come across the article and not sure how to upload it to here, its a PDF file reference to James Renner and Stephen King. I went to school with his siblings (James's). The book they did together is a reference to Chief Wiley. My sister inlaw believe so too. The movies were called Dollar Babies which is also mentioned in the last link I said below and this is the story James Renner:

Wiley was seen living with this woman in 1993, just 8 years after/before Wiley went missing. if you want to take it another direction that is between the two Melvin Wiley would be today 77 years old today and Ray would be 69 years old today, 20 yrs apart from each other, but only actually 8 years in ages. Spooky huh?


Ray Gricar lived in Akron, just 25 minutes from Hinckley. Ray moved to Cleveland, before he moved to PA. I also heard that Ray was killed. I don't know how much truth is to that.

RSBM. It is a bit weird that the two Melvins have the same first and last name and middle initial, but I don't see any other similarity...what am I missing here? The age part went right over my head!

Also, you talked about your brother being questioned about Mr. Wiley's disappearance in another post. Did your brother know him? Or was your brother known as a "hell raiser" at that time?

Yes and I found out that our Chief Wiley arrested my brother and yes being a drug user, and there is one more thing but I don't remember, he spent time in the old Mansfield prison, the haunted one and the old Medina county jail that was torn down, but my brother wasn't once violent and hung around with the neighbor boy that lived next to us named BK (I don't think I'm allowed to post actual name of the living) but YES he was and BK is/was into Satanism, I found this out a few months ago. He's the one who killed our pets and is a Angels member. If you know what I mean....

I think he would be in his late 70's now. It's possible he's dead by this point.

Yes... that is definitely possible, if not probable. I have worried about the effects of the radiation on him -> possible skin cancer that is less treatable. I don't know. I'd love to know where he went, but it looks like that is one of the great mysteries. Shame for the Mother though.

Oh absolutely. I check in every now and then on Mr. Gricar... the whole thing is just so maddening. One day I'm sold on walkaway. The next I'm onto suicide.... then the next hour I'm thinking that call that was received at the courthouse may have been just a little too convenient... and the smoke in the car.... sheessh. What a mess of a mystery... It's almost as bad as Jason Jolkowski... which I'm getting a theory on... but was recently denied by police, though I still wonder....
Anyway.... it's a mess... But, I'll see you on there once again

I haven't seen anything about Mel's financial situation. Did he have any money that vanished?

I think there's an even chance that he killed himself but staged it to look like a voluntary disappearance because he didn't want his mother to know. He could have easily crawled into a very remote storm sewer somewhere and then slashed his wrists.

IIRC, he borrowed some money from a friend shortly before he disappeared.
