A judge has dismissed charges against the former University of Cincinnati police officer who fatally shot an unarmed driver.
However, Judge Leslie Ghiz denied the defense motion to actually acquit Tensing.
Prosecutor Joe Deters had said he would not try Tensing a third time. Juries in two different trials could not unanimously agree on a verdict. Mistrials were declared in both.
Deters said he had come to the conclusion to officially dismiss the case after talking to jurors. He said they told him he would never get 12 people to agree to convict a police officer.
What a disaster. This is so wrong. I can't believe they ended up with 2 hung juries on this case, now the guy goes free. No charges. Thanks Joe Deters.
Zero surprise. A 99.99% chance the same thing will happen in Minneapolis, AGAIN. The police in this country are a group that operate totally above the laws, with complete immunity. It's only going to get worse as long as juries continue to empower the police to act like this.
