BETHANY, Oklahoma - New court documents have revealed a woman was forced to watch a group of people torture and kill 19-year-old Carina Saunders.

[LE] managed to locate the woman who told them on the night of October 9, she was standing on the street outside of a northwest Oklahoma City house when a man drove up in a vehicle, opened the door, and forced her inside.

The woman said a man blindfolded her with a dark handkerchief and drove her to an unknown location. She told police she was taken to a room and forced to watch the torture of a woman. She said she didn't know who the victim was until the woman was later identified on the news as Carina Saunders.

According to court documents, police determined the man who kidnapped the witness was 33-year-old Jimmy Lee Massey, also known as "Big Country."

Police also said Massey went on to describe in very specific and graphic detail about how Saunders was killed and the disposal of her body.

Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole said Tuesday the case involves a drug trafficking ring and a prostitution ring that were linked.

“(Saunders) had relationships among this loosely associated group of people, and we believe she was a target of opportunity,” Cole said. “We don't believe the witness and Carina knew each other, however we believe Carina's murderer was sending a message that she wasn't cooperating with this organization in a way she was expected to.”

Cole said he hopes this is the first of several arrests in the case.

Oh my - me too. How horrific for her to have to witness something like this.

WTH is wrong with these people? It's like something out of a movie.
 
Second man wanted in Carina Saunders' death arrested (Daily Oklahoman)
BETHANY — Police have arrested a second person in the death of Carina Saunders, authorities report Wednesday morning.

“It appears our hard work is starting to pay off,” Police Chief Phil Cole said Wednesday morning.

Francisco Gomez, 31, who police said Tuesday was wanted as a person of interest in the death of Saunders, has been booked at the Oklahoma County jail on trafficking illegal drugs and failure to pay child support complaints, a jailer said.

I am confused. What purpose would abducting a stranger off the street and making her watch a woman being tortured/killed serve? And then let the stranger go. I don't get it.
 
The reason they showed the video of Carina's torture and murder, was to intimidate the witness into cooperating with them. It had something to do with prostitution and she and her group (or whatever) weren't performing satisfactorily..............it used to be pimps would beat their girls up if they didn't generate enough money. Now you have organized thugs killing, a seemingly innocent victim, to intimidate them into providing what they want.

This is very sad and scary. To think that these types of people are walking around our streets. :(

Oh, and one video the LE officer said as far as they've determined to date, they had found that Carina was not involved in any crimes, but was an acquaintance of some of this group and she was picked as a crime of opportunity. He said she was targeted, however. Just happened to be caught alone, down the street from the groups apartment.

People in OKC need to warn their daughters! Don't be friends with these people! It's hazardous to your health!

New court documents released Friday provided new information in the slaying and dismemberment of an Oklahoma City teenager.

Jimmy Massey is in jail, but so far, investigators haven't charged him with the crime.

Investigators said a man by the name of Michael Knight, or "Monster," lived in the apartment. Police said they believe he played a role in Saunders' slaying.

Police said they're not searching for Knight, as he's already in jail on unrelated charges.
 
Trying to pin down the place where Carina Saunders was killed and dismembered, investigators removed DNA and blood evidence from an apartment unit belonging to a convicted felon nicknamed “Monster.”

Jimmy Lee Massey, 33, has been connected to the case since a confidential witness told investigators she was kidnapped by Massey and forced to watch the slaying of Saunders.
Massey was named in a murder warrant in the case, but he has not been charged. He has also been implicated in drug- and human-trafficking rings.

A former elementary school teacher-turned-alleged drug dealer was charged on Thursday in the brutal murder and dismemberment of a 19-year-old woman.

Luis Ruiz, 37, allegedly tortured and slaughtered Carina Saunders, whose remains were found stuffed into a duffel bag behind a grocery store in Bethany, Oklahoma in October 2011.

Authorities believe Ruiz, a father of five, murdered Saunders to scare female witnesses so they would cooperate with a drug and human trafficking ring he was allegedly involved in.

Bethany police have reported they were told a video of Carina Saunders' killing exists, but detectives have been unable to confirm its existence, documents filed Tuesday in Oklahoma County District Court show.

A woman thought to have a copy of the video agreed to meet with police last week, but Mindy Cottier didn't show up because she “was scared to come forward,” according to a search warrant affidavit.

It was unclear Tuesday if a laptop computer, two zip drives or two cameras recovered July 3 from a motel where Cottier was staying contained video of the killing.

Oklahoma County judge grants extension to keep suspect jailed in Saunders slaying (Daily Oklahoman)
Citing new evidence in the Carina Saunders slaying investigation, prosecutors have received more time to charge the only person jailed in her slaying, court papers show.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater filed a 10-day extension July 13 on behalf of Bethany police to give detectives more time to prepare their case against Luis E. Ruiz.

And I agree with you wfgodot, maybe a separate forum once charges are determined. Or would he be tried on all charges by the same jury? Or same trial separate juries? Two trials? OMG I am such a noob.
