GUILTY OK - Verlin 'Ray' Howard, 41, Tulsa, 4 Sept 2014 *Arrest*

I watched the first 48 episode online last night and to me it was obvious that the roommate was the biggest suspect. However, I understand there was nothing other than circumstantial evidence to link him, but its so frustrating, I wish there was more.
has this case gone cold now, or is it still being actively investigated?
Ray seemed like such a nice man
He did seem like a good guy-just looking for friends and someone took advantage of his genoristy

That's a good theory but not likely. The police think the body is in the tulsa area. They even think they know where but are waiting for better weather. Not sure how much better it needs to be though.

The case hasn't gone cold. Ray is my brother and I promise I will fight tooth and nail to keep this case going. But I've been guaranteed an arrest eventually. They want a body or weapon first.

I'd like to say I'm sorry that you're having to go through this.

Sorry to hear about your loss. One thing that comes to mind is that for the title to be transferred there has to be a notary to sign it. The seller has to be in the presence of the notary. So I would say that likely didn't happen and you can go get your brother's truck with the help of police. I would call the lead detective and have them run the plate and see who it is registered to. If it is still in your brother's name, go get it. (With police escort)

Imo, Ray is in the Tulsa area and not very far. Rob had a 3 hour window to hide his body and wash the truck out and that's not a long time considering the task at hand. And honestly, how far is he going to drive with a body in the back of the truck and risk being pulled over? Even 120 lbs is not easy to lug around. I wonder did the detectives check for compressed sand on the bottom of Rob's boots? He doesn't seem that bright to think about cleaning them off and he doesn't look like he'd put a lot of effort into digging any type of hard ground.

Is OK a state that requires a notary? I know NC does but MN and FL do not.

Yep, so it should be no problem getting that vehicle from Rob. It may take some work for you to legally posses it as well but it should take nothing to get it away from him. There could still be some evidence he missed.

I have already tried to get the truck. I was told by the detective that since the truck isn't in my name that if I go get it, I will be stealing it. Rob has possession of it will stay that way till he's arrested. Everything in the apartment was rays and yet rob sold it all and technically didn't break the law since he was rays roommate. Sucks but isn't anything can be done about it.

This is another sad case where it appears the murderer has gotten away with murder. I saw this on Investigation Discovery last night. He seemed to be a really nice guy, very altruistic and trusting in the wrong people. From what I saw last night it appeared the room mate and that girl who claimed they were just friends; but, whom Ray was "giddy" about had something to do with his murder. There are evil people on this earth who should have a big X on their foreheads so that good people can run in the opposite direction when they see them coming.

Yeah, she seems shady. He mysteriously comes up dead after meeting her and spending $300.00 on a phone for someone he barely knew. If they can find out where the $10,000.00 went, they will find the killer; but, I don't think they need to look farther than Rob and that woman.

I just came across this thread - Dewayne I am so sorry you are dealing with all this. I simply can't imagine how upsetting and helpless this situation must make you feel on Verlin's behalf. You are a very caring and thoughtful brother.

I can't believe that I missed the First 48 episode dealing with Verlin's disappearance. I tried to google it but can't locate it. If someone knows the name of the episode please post it as I would like to view it. And also the Imvestigation Discovery episode - I assume it must be a Disappeared episode? Thanks!

Is called M.I.A. There's a lot of stuff you don't get to see because it's only an hour long. There are even things I've been asked not to talk about. I found out the reason they didn't mention the failed polygraph is because they can be sued for it. I didn't need Rob to take a polygraph to know he was lying. When i talked to him, the lies poured out of him like an open faucet. Hopefully justice gets served soon. Sept 3rd/4th will make 2 years.

Thanks perfectingpink for the video link.....I watched it and it brings up a lot of questions obviously. I agree, Rob and December are guilty as hell and lousy at lying. So what was rob's story for the morning Ray supposedly said he wasn't going to work and decided to go pick up furniture instead? What were rob's movements for that day? Who picked up Ray or how did he supposedly leave that day? Has he been grilled over that important day? He is so full of it and needs to be locked into his lies. And the blood - how does he explain that? It doesn't appear out of nowhere. Rob doesn't seem very concerned at all, like he feels he's home free.....that's what bothers me. He wasn't very good at covering up this crime and it seems there is a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing directly at him. .

Robs lies that you saw on the show aren't the same as the ones he told me. One example is that he told the police Ray told him the night before he disappeared that Ray was going to Kansas. He told me that Ray told him the morning he disappeared that he was heading to Kansas.
Supposedly Rays ex roommate was suppose to pick ray up. Ray didn't even like how ex roommate anymore. Hadn't talked to him in years. So that was a lie.
The phone that rob sold. He pulled it out in front of me and said it was robs. I didn't figure out it was Rays till i saw the show. Rob is a piece of ****. He's guilty and will go to jail someday. Just wish it wasn't taking so long. Hopefully his ****** old neighbor goes with him.
You can't get enough info on just an hour episode. But i was told the reason they didn't put the polygraph in that episode was for legal reasons. He failed it though. Just like he failed at life.

I hope this is solved soon, I'm so sorry that you're suffering this way.
