Found Deceased OK, Veronica Butler 27 & Jilian Kelley 39, Vehicle Abandoned, Texas County, 30 Mar 2024 #6 *Arrests*

Well, I don't think we really know if there are any plea deals being negotiated. My comment earlier was just geared at the idea of defendants needing all information, if pleas were to be negotiated. That said, I don't know how quickly those discussions begin, if they begin at all in this case..
Thx Betsy for responding! Just curious if anyone has ever heard of plea deals made this early in a murder1 case. I’m sure no one is privy to this specific info on this case, was wondering abt other cases also. I’m not expressing my thoughts very well today, tired me thinks!

Not only are the Cooks, (AKA the babysitters) members of the misfits, but are they not also in-laws to the Twomblys? I believe it was stated in an earlier post that their daughter is married to Cole T.’s son.
Yes, that’s correct, Cole T’s only son married one of the Cooks’ daughters recently.

A few things that have caught my eye that haven't been discussed...

The prosecution has filed an *amended* motion to withhold the full medical examiner's report. I speculate that the only "amendment" to this is to also stipulate that the full report is also withheld from the family, not just the general public as in the original motion.

Also, there have been a few extra filings only in TA's case, which I assume mean her attorney filed these and not the prosecution. Anyone have these docs? Very interested in what the Motion to Prohibit Extrajudicial Statements says. The public defenders already have a policy of not speaking to the media...

05/10/2024TEXTMOTION TO PRESERVE EVIDENCE
Pursuant to 12 O.S. § 39, Document Available at Court Clerk's Office
05/10/2024TEXTMOTION TO PROHIBIT EXTRAJUDICIAL STATEMENTS
Pursuant to 12 O.S. § 39, Document Available at Court Clerk's Office
05/10/2024TEXTMOTION TO SEAL WARRANTS
Pursuant to 12 O.S. § 39, Document Available at Court Clerk's Office

I’ve been looking for these docs but not located them yet!

Re-posting. :)

APR 17, 2024
The four suspects are expected back in court on Wednesday, May 15 at 9 a.m. for a status hearing.

MAY 1, 2024
Grice is expected to return to the courthouse on May 15 with the other four people who have been arrested and charged in connection to the deaths of Butler and Kelley: 54-year-old Tifany Adams, 43-year-old Tad Cullum, 44-year-old Cora Twombly and 50-year-old Cole Twombly.

Grice will get a public defender since he said he can’t afford to hire his own.

@PommyMommy Thx for your repost, keeping us up to date.
IDK how you keep track of all these cases but am glad that you do. :)

I think if the Prosecution can find a 'weak link' within a group of suspects (and there always seems to be one), they would definitely use them to flip on the others. Maybe they would offer a reduced sentence in order to get to the main plotters and actual killers. I've seen it happen quite often here on cases.

All five suspects charged with the murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley are appearing in court today for a status hearing.

ETA: I'm not seeing anything yet - hope this isn't a dud!

ETA #2: They're live outside the courthouse. Looks like we may just see the defendants entering and exiting the building.

They're not looking so smug to me these days.

It's my guess that the woman who met Cora at the sheriff's car and walked beside her was her public defender. Among this miscreant crew, Cora seems the most vulnerable. IMO, that was evident in the way she looked at her attorney. She appeared to be near tears as she said "Hi." It hurts to get caught, doesn't it.

I'm thinking Cora's ripe for a plea deal, ready to turn on the others. The thing is, more canny criminals know how to angle for that play too. If TA wants it, she'll try to get it and find ways to best everyone else in the room.

And I couldn't help but notice that Cole Twombley is still maintaining his self-serving smirk. JMO.

The link shows an old video...Can anyone find today's video? I would like to see how smug they look today.

I hope they have enough evidence that a plea deal is not needed. All of them need to be put away for life, IMO. I’d prefer the Death Penalty, but it costs so much and takes so long to execute someone, we might as well not have it as an option

I didn't think they were charged yet with the DP.

A trial is for the jury to decide guilt or innocence. Not necessary for a trial when the defendant says they are guilty. DP is used as leverage to get defendants to plead.

If these defendants insist on pleading not guilty I think the prosecution will go for the DP to gain leverage for a guilty plea.

Here’s a recording of the live stream. It shows them walking in one at a time and then exiting one at a time, no comments today from any of the 5. Cora’s public defender escorted her inside the courtroom door. Cora looks a mess, sick look on her face. Paul Grice looks pretty sad too. No one looking too proud today, even their posture seems a little more bent. Just my observations watching a few seconds of each one.

You are correct, DA hasn’t announced whether he’s seeking the DP. I think the DA will wait several more weeks b4 making that announcement, he’ll see how many are wanting to testify for the state and want a deal. The 5 need some time with their attorneys and to get more discovery, are my thoughts. I’d be good with the DP Xs 5!

TEXAS COUNTY, Okla. (KFDA) - All five suspects charged with murder in the killings of Kansas women Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley, who went missing in Oklahoma last month before their bodies were found days later, appeared in court today for a status hearing.

Paul Grice, 31, 43-year-old Tad Cullum, 54-year-old Tifany Adams, 50-year-old Cole Twombly and 44-year-old Cora Twombly are all facing two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree.

At Wednesday’s hearing, the judge denied the motion to seal the search warrants in the case. However, the judge also ordered a motion to withhold the full medical examiner’s report for an extended amount of time.

The judge also issued a gag order in the case and discovery motions were ordered. The next hearing is scheduled for June 19 at 9:00 a.m.

On Friday, Adams' attorney filed three motions, including one asking for the judge to issue a gag order and to seal the warrants.

The defense argued doing so is necessary to "avoid excessive publicity that could further taint the jury pool."

The motions said the case have already received local, national and international coverage.
