PA PA - Steven Russo, 48, Lancaster Township, 24 Nov 2010

That is really odd about his home being entered by a stranger the day before he was murdered and his girlfriend's baby (the cat) disappearing from the home they shared. I wonder if Heidi had any previous boyfriends or an ex-husband that didn't care for Mr. Russo dating Heidi?

Bumping for Mr. Russo's family and many friends

Muttley - The points you highlighted sure make it sound like they returned with the intent of killing him or someone. Although a single gun shot doesn't sound like a crime of passion type of situation - but I am by no means and expert so maybe my assumption is incorrect. To me, a single gunshot to the side of the head sounds more like business or getting rid of a problem (to put it bluntly).

Of course the other thing is, if he did see someone and that is who did it, he already described the person to police so why go back and kill him? Unless there was more to the who it was and why they were there.

I haven't heard any recent developments on the case. I believe I said this before but I really thought they would have this case closed by now. Also reminds me of the recent anniversary of the deaths of two high school boys that died under suspicious circumstances in the area long before Mr. Russo. ( http://triblive.com/news/butler/214...s-fosnaught-sign-police-died-shawn-son-butler ). Although I do not believe the cases are related, it's another example of something I thought would be open and shut.

Amazing what people can get away with in this day and age.

This article written a year after Mr. Russo's murder has an interesting statement. The brother of Steve Russo says that Steve's family considers Heidi to be an acquaintance of Steve (not a girlfriend). Hmmm.

Another article stated that Mr. Russo was preparing to move out of Heidi's cabin.
Russo moved into the house earlier that year after filing for divorce from his wife of 24 years in July 2010. But, according to the Cranberry Eagle, his family claimed that decision had nothing to do with Smith.
They also revealed that shortly before his death, Russo was planning to move out of the house that Smith, a second-grade teacher in the Mars Area Elementary School, had originally rented for herself.
