I was reading up about identification of remains in various places recently Richrd, and they all said the most commonly mistaken 'human' remains are bear feet! There's even a Facebook page for people who find bones and want to find out what creature they belong to, so they post photos and others try to ID them.

There was one rather disturbing post, if I recollect correctly, that showed a found bone next to a living person's leg, and was almost certainly human.
