This is only twice the bail of last time (although I realize this is real bail, and not "funny money" as Beth Chapman called it). It should have at least been half a million, imo.

Dangit. I hope that's not right. He can probably make that bond.

From S. Ganim's twitter link (thanks BigCat!), the prosecutors asked for $1Million...I understand this $250T is for victim 9 only, so hopefully there will be more added for #10...

Oh, good! Maybe there's more bond ahead!

From the presentment:

Victim 9 was always, without exception, told to sleep in the basement bedroom. Victim 9 testified that Sandusky specifically told him to stay in the basement unless otherwise directed by Sandusky. He ate meals in the basement and the food would be brought to him by Sandusky. He further testified that despite being in the Sandusky home on these numerous occasions, he had “barely any” contact with Sandusky’s wife during these visits. He specifically testified that she “never” came into the the basement when he was there.
Was Sandusky's wife so naive as to not wonder why the kids did not sleep in the other available bedrooms in the house, why food was brought to the basement rather than the child/children joining them at the dinner table and, why this child (victim 9 and possibly the others) did not, or was not allowed, interaction with her?

Were these rules she set because she didn't want the children in her house......her way of not having to acknowledge what she suspected was taking place in her home?

Sandusky gave this child whiskey before he molested him when he was 12.

Pensfan, thank you for bringing forth this link. I am just so repulsed by this and I don't clearly know if it's what Jerry is accused of doing or the fact it went on so long that gives me such a sick feeling. My mind keeps telling me that this criminial behavior continyed mainly because no one in authority stepped up and took action to stop Jerry. He might have been warned, but he was never stopped.

From your posts and your name, I see you have a personal interest in Penn State and how this progresses. But, could you share, if you feel comfortable with it, how you believe this will end? Not just for the accused but for the University itself. Thanks

just my O.

The abuse of Victim 9 allegedly took place two years after he was banned(?) from bringing children to the campus by the Penn State admins.

Personally, I think this isn't going to trial. Eventually, even Amendola will realize this thing is a tidal wave and that he's overmatched.

School: Sandusky denied job after background check

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A year and a half after an investigation began into Jerry Sandusky's contact with young boys, the former Penn State assistant football coach applied for a volunteer coaching job at a central Pennsylvania college but was denied the job after a background check.

Officials at Juniata College said Wednesday that Sandusky applied for the volunteer football coaching job in May 2010 and rejected the following month after a background check showed a high school where Sandusky previously volunteered was investigating him.

Juniata spokesman John Wall said the college was not informed of the details of the investigation or the existence of a grand jury, but based on the report informed its coaches Sandusky was not to have contact with the program.

"We basically did our due-diligence," Wall said.

Good for them!

---------

The new 2004 complainant: Schmidt told the AP that his client was 12 years old, dealing with the death of his mother and suffering emotional issues at the time of the campus incident. The lawyer said the two met through The Second Mile and his client claims Sandusky gave him liquor while in the office on campus. The grand jury report did not allege any instances of Sandusky giving boys alcohol.

Schmidt said his law firm is conducting its own investigation into the client's claims........."Everything that we've been able to unearth since has corroborated what he told us, but we'll continue to do our due diligence."
--------

The preliminary hearing could last a day or more, since the defense has the right to cross-examine the state's witnesses. The judge would then rule if there's probable cause to uphold the charges.
-------

Former sex-crimes prosecutor Richard DeSipio said prosecutors may have to call the six known accusers for the judge to uphold the 40 counts. Defense lawyers sometimes waive preliminary hearings if they are worried about publicity for their clients, but DeSipio said he is not surprised Amendola is demanding the hearing.

#sandusky will have to post full 250k bail to get out and then will be on ankle bracelet if he posts
32 minutes ago

Even if he manages to scrape up the full 250k bail, at least he'll have to wear an ankle bracelet. I'm not sure he can come up with 250k right now. I'm sure his lawyer wanted a big chunk of cash up front from him.

(NewsCore) - STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- A lottery will be held for members of the public who want to watch next Wednesday's preliminary hearing of a case involving accused child molester Jerry Sandusky, Centre County Court officials announced.

The 67-year-old former Penn State assistant football coach has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period, but he denies the allegations.

The Centre County Court of Common Pleas said applications for seating would be accepted on its website for 24 hours starting Wednesday at noon local time: https://www.co.centre.pa.us/media/lottery.asp

Those selected in the random draw will be notified Friday, ahead of the hearing that starts Dec. 13 and is expected to last several days.

All eight of the alleged victims will testify against Sandusky at the hearing, ABC News reported Monday, citing sources.

Right, and we have another who came forward just yesterday, still being investigated, that also said his abuse by JS occurred in 2004 on the campus....

Hi all,
Is there a place to discuss Sandusky's wife? Sorry, I'm being lazy - I get directed here when I search "Dottie Sandusky"
Tx!

Video of Sandusky arrest and being escorted from his home today. Also, from accompanying article:
Joe Amendola, said he was "disappointed by the latest tactics" of the AG's office -- "by going to Jerry's house unannounced without so much as giving me a courtesy phone call as his attorney. I had to hear it from the media.
Tactics??? Give me a break . Sandusky doesn't deserve the courtesy of a pre-arrest phone call.

omg. omg. omg. :furious:

You know, there are some cases that make me so angry, I almost need to step away from the computer before I lose it. This is one of those cases. There are so many things I want to type but I'm just not going there . . .

Why isn't she being arrested too? There's culpability there. :maddening:

I hear ya ThoughtFox! It's maddening to know all this has gone on under the noses, ears and eyes of everybody, who most likely knew about it, and he's gotten away with this so long. So many children carrying these wounds and scars for the rest of their lives....

I hope they will subpeona her for the prelim hearing, especially now that victim 9 will be testifying (I think)...if the judge finds she was present and knew about the abuse and didn't report, hopefully she will be charged for failure to report...

You're in the right place...join in!

We've already been discussing her.

My personal nominee for the Pulitzer prize says $250,000 CASH

I couldn't help but notice that Sara replaced the Glamour Shot on her Twitter profile. She looks much more like an award-winning journalist in the new pic. Hopefully, she'll get some consideration.

Additional video footage of Sandusky arrest today (if you can stand to look at him). From the accompanying article:
Sandusky's attorney arrived late to the hearing, Kenneth Moton reported, saying he was notified of the arrest "by the media." The first words he said to Sandusky were 'told you. We had this discussion. Some day you will listen to me.' Sandusky smiled.
Wonder what the heck "told you" means :waitasec:. My interpretation is that possibly Amendola advised Sandusky to stay in some unknown location which would make it necessary for authorities contact Amendola regarding Sandusky's whereabouts. That scenario would give Amendola a 'heads up' something was going down.

Wonder what the hotel staff thought seeing Sandusky bringing a kid into a room. You would think in a small town like that people would know who Sandusky was?

Didn't Paterno own a hotel there?

Yep, I was thinking the same thing...
