Not quite an answer yet to the coffee cups because how did he get the coffee cups to the room in the first place. All reports coming out of Peru stated he left to get the coffee and bread around 8:00 AM and returned at 8:20 AM. This info had to be backed with something as it was repeated over and over again and the fact that he was wearing the white shirt.

Collyns really never answered Greta's questions: "where did the coffee come from and is there video?"

Jean C even reported where he bought the coffee, although she had the wrong place and later in the day pointed out where he bought the coffee.

Before, during, and after the Holloway case, the Van Der Sloot family has never been rich. Aruban-Dutch lawyers and, indeed, the judges that Paulus never became aren't as affluent as their American counterparts. With extensive legal fees, court costs, a relatively modest home, and two other sons, they hardly lived an elite life.

You do not have to have money to be powerful and influential.
In our country they tend to go hand and hand, but it is not always a one to one.

Thanks, Nums, for posting this. Forgive my skepticism about this. (Although heaven knows that Greta's guests have never been wrong before.) The hotel and casino videos seem to be popping up in confusing sequences and it's possible that Collyns is making an understandable mistake. As for the "empty" coffee cups, it might be that he's been victimized by the video quality: Remember early on, people said that Stephany was not carrying a purse and not wearing earrings.

I do not think there is another video. The bold excerpts from the article satisfies me:

He's caught on video going in with her and leaving alone. So he's pretty much done himself in that way, but he comes up with these elaborate stories.

COLLYNS: It seems he's looking for some kind of alibi. It was clearly a weak alibi as it turned out. As it turned out, he's pretending he's again to buy coffee and locked out of his own hotel room. It is hard to wonder what was going through his mind at the time but clearly from the outset looking for some kind of alibi trying to think of a way out of this situation he has found himself in.

There are a bunch of videos in the media thread where it was talked about. Jean C mentioned it; a Peruvian reporter spoke about it; it was in loads of articles that came out in the beginning when this case first came forward; Nancy, Issues, Mark Furhman etc.

The mysterious video of Joran going for coffee as indicated at 8:00 AM in the white shirt on May 30, 2010 has never come forward.

Even in his confessions, he was asked "why did he go for coffee" something like that and Joran didn't know why he did it.

That is the theory I have based on the videos and information I have seen. I know there have been so many reports and the stories have changed so much. As of right now, I believed JVDS faked the coffee run.

JVDS will be questioned by the judge on Monday, maybe we will learn new info after that.

I don't see how one relates to the other. Being influential by virtue of his position doesn't mean anything in regards to their financial status.

Chanier, I shall disagree that Joran's real problems started with Natalee. I have read much about Joran's lying and anger behavior problems before Natalee. His parents already moved him out of the family house. There are many opinions found, especially in Aruba, about his lying and anger problems, killing his dog, as example. Please don't as me to quote, as I have done so much reading.

Yes, perhaps good in school, and well aware of father's expectations for him and success (how to appear). Charming, superior, a loving boy - I don't think so.

He did not develop into a sociopath upon Natalee's disappearance. And to me, he truly does embrace virtually every trait of a charming, unfeeling, narcissistic sociopath.

Of course, JMO in health care for many years.

I know PattyG. I too trust Jean C's reporting and I heard it and watched all of the videos you so graciously post. I just think that he stayed at that hotel for 2 weeks and had the cups in his room already. I clearly remember the CNN International gentleman reporter stating that he left in the white shirt to get coffee. I will believe it when I see it and will keep hunting for it in the interim.
