I am not sure if this has been posted but this is a very good image of the sort of land that surrounds the small town of Luz... a lot of the other areas are far more covered with growth/shrubbery

It is the area surrounding the monument and it goes on for miles - I know its goes as far as Lagos which is 2km away...you can also drive up there

And that slope up to the monument is a LOT! steeper than it appears...

P.S. Images 4&5 are of the Church and Cemetery - there is some written detail re the cemetary

My guess is that she's holding another infant relative (niece, nephew, cousin). According to this article, she was married in 1998:

I think it's odd that they're releasing all of these family photos now including other family members and Madeline when she was younger. If she truly has been abducted, wouldn't it make more sense to keep the photos of her as she looks now in the public's mind so people can recognize her if they see her? It just strikes me as either a ploy to manipulate our sympathy at best or to distract us from something else at worst.

No apologies necessary ny_ this thread is open for discussion but most people just come to look. I have found confirmation of your instinct about the baby (it is "Linda's baby Ellie, Kate's goddaughter"), I will update my caption abaove. I agree, feels like someone is pushing my "sympathy" button.

Thanks for the link Colomom. Seeing that photo of the apt, (2 out of 33) just really makes me wonder what they were thinking. Ground floor & shrub cover. Maybe it's just coming from a semi-urban area (outer boroughs of NYC) and having LE relatives and I'm judging too harshly, but that should've been an alarm right there. Ground floor apts. are easier to access and shrub provides cover. I spent about $150 more in rent a month on one apt. because of the 2 available, the less expensive one was ground floor with shrub cover. I always notice stuff like that and I'm extra vigilant when staying away from home if there's anything like that.

Also, that perfectly nice balcony. Why not some takeout tapas & wine there where they could keep an eye on the kids?

Anyway while I've been reading and chatting here I was also playing around in Photoshop. Photoshop is like a Valium to me. It's centers me and relaxes me and it's a good way to let go of the day. Just create.
