Police respond to reports of 4 shot at home of Lil Wayne

Police say they are responding to a report of four people shot at the Miami Beach home of rapper Lil Wayne.

Miami Beach Det. Vivian Thayer says police units responded Wednesday after someone called to say four people had been shot at the waterfront home on an exclusive island.

The police department are hacked off and I don't blame them. Someone's going to be charged with wasting police time if they get caught.

TMZ has a recording of the hoax call. The dispatcher is wonderful, whereas the hoaxer is very unconvincing and gets even more so as the dispatcher asks him questions.

Lil Wayne wasn't even home at the time but the news gave his family and friends a nasty shock when they heard it. Police are still searching for the caller. I wonder if people who know him will recognize his voice? It sounds like a youngish man, possibly under the influence of alcohol or some substance to me.

I hope whoever made the call will be located and face consequences, both for the wasted resources (LE responded absolutely accordingly IMO), and to LW's family who received such an unexpected surprise. :notgood:
