Powell Photo's

Roselvr, since you have a Picasa account could you contact this guy, Jeffery above?

Look at the spelling of his name--not Jeffrey, but Jeffery. He lives in Tallahassee, FL and is the Chair of the Music History Dept at FSU.

He has written a book about Renaissance Music that was published in Bloomington, Indiana University Press in 2007

There appear to be other Kite-Powells from Georgia, Texas, and Florida including an anglican Catholic priest.

According to whitepages, there are 15 Kite-Powells in the US.

This Jeffery also has a facebook page. I will send him a note asking him to look at Benjaman's fb page.

Hi Carolwood, great job. Yes, I think that one photo of J. K. Powell bears some features in common with Benjaman. I've seen other pictures of Wayne Powell, and I think there's something about him that also reminds me slightly of Benjaman.

There's a Kite-Powell, first name Hauke, too. Might be this Jeffery's son? Looks something like him. IIRC I found that BK had a 12 marker match with someone with the last name Hauke or some other spelling of that name. I wonder if Hauke Kite-Powell's family didn't give him an older surname in their family as a first name?

I was googling on these Kite-Powells late last night, and fell asleep in front of my computer. Rodney Kite-Powell is the curator of the Tampa Bay History Museum, and he looks to have done some genealogy work as part of his job. He could be a person who might be very willing to help in identifying Benjaman.

Your Jeffery Kite-Powell has the very same strong indentation near the base of his left nostril that Ben has. I'm thinking that Bk looks most like southern east coast Powells. I still recall that young Powell college guy I found, and I still think he also bears some features in common with Ben.

I enlarged the photo of the Powell from Austin, and I didn't see anything about his face that struck me as looking like Benjamin.

I think when contacting these Powells, the person calling should ask,who in their family is the family genealogist, and get the info to contact that person as well. If possible, get that info early in the conversation in case the Powell person at the other end isn't interested in helping much so then we're not left with a dead end.

Doing a little genealogy research, I found a family who came in 1912 from Yorkshire, England. I don't think all the children came with their father, as he was married to a second wife at the time. I did find that one of the children from the first married died in England. It also seems all the Kite-Powells are related in the US.

I found a photo of Rodney Kite-Powell here: http://www.cgcas.org/newsletters/2009-08_CGCASNL.pdf

He does not bear a resemblance that I can see to Jeffery Kite Powell or BK. Darn.

I don't know if this person has been brought up or not, Benjamin Powell Wilkins. I see some structural commonalities in his face and Ben's, and he looks like he could be an ancestor of Ben's, but who knows? This man's great granddaughter lives in Broward county, Fl, and is an elementary school principal, Susan Sasse.

I will look into this further if anyone thinks it needs to be followed up.

Just a quick note, on the above Andrew Powell. Andrew has a curve in the very bottom of his nose(tip), very noticeable. Ben has a slight curve also, hum. Also look how the eyes set. What doesn't set is the head structure. Also it seems Andrew had very light eyes.
