I'm one of those people that always wishes for the grand gesture from the hero that falls from grace. I wanted Lance Armstrong to apologize and become a crusader against doping in sports. I want BC to make a public apology and become the poster boy for raising awareness about rape and rape culture. Well, I know my wishes rarely come true....

You do know that OJ Simpson claimed he was going to speak to battered women's groups. He claimed Nicole was abusive to him. So, yeah, it never works out that way.

We'd do better if our takeaway is to remember how unfair so many people were to these women for so long. Not allowing them to file charges, telling them to shut up, painting them as *advertiser censored*. Let's place our concerns there.

Cosby drugged the women and had sex with them when they were out of it?

Pet peeve of mine, when we know it is rape (and I have no doubt you do) can we stop saying "had sex".
I saw a rape case where the news report said they "had sex" with a toddler. :gaah:
Makes me crazy. So unfair to the victims.

I wasn't "placing my concerns there". And certainly not at the expense of justice for victims.

Jesuit university rescinds 2012 degree awarded to Bill Cosby

The University of San Francisco Board of Trustees voted to rescind the 2012 honorary degree awarded to Bill Cosby. The USF board voted Friday, the same day Brown University revoked the doctorate of humane letters it granted in 1985.

The National Enquirer story seems more than a little iffy... Apparently there's an unpublished book in which Autumn Jackson's aunt said Autumn Jackson said Cosby "might" have got a hitman because Ennis found out about her. If she had any evidence to back this up it's apparently not very clearly spelled out.

Now, The National Enquirer reports that Jackson's aunt, Jewel Star, has written a book entitled Bill Cosby's Love Child that she's currently shopping to publishers.

The book makes the shocking claim that Cosby orchestrated the murder of his son Ennis as part of his attempt to bury the allegations made by Upshaw.

Jackson was arrested just two days after Ennis was murdered by a Ukrainian immigrant with no ties to the 27-year-old.

In the book, Star quotes Jackson as saying, “Cosby might have had Ennis murdered because he had found out about me."

Star says she believes that Cosby sent "a hitman" to murder her as well, but settled for simply having her arrested and imprisoned.

At a hearing in Santa Monica scheduled for Wednesday, Cosby's attorneys will argue that a deposition he is scheduled to give Oct. 9 should be sealed. They hope to block public access by alleging that Allred plans to exploit the material for personal gain.

"It was recently reported . . . that CBS Television is planning a new legal drama based on the life of Gloria Allred," the attorneys said in court documents filed last month, adding that Allred plans to serve as an executive producer on the series. "There would be nothing stopping Allred from turning Mr. Cosby's deposition transcript into a script for a future episode of her television series."

Allred and her partners say that's "outright speculation" and, furthermore, wrong.
