A day after Chester County Sheriff Robby Benson said he couldn't comment on whether a registered sex offender was being looked at in a homicide last week, the Chester County Sheriff's Department charged that man with murder.
The News & Reporter first reported Friday that a Chester man who twice has had sexual offense charges dropped is in jail again, facing two more charges related to sex offenses.
Chester County Sheriff Robby Benson said Thursday afternoon he could not say whether investigators are looking at Casey Raymond Perkins, 34, of 571 Debruhl St., Chester in relation to that case.
On Friday, Perkins was charged with murder in the death of a Chester woman, according to published reports.
Judith Sharon Hinson, 57, was pronounced dead by Coroner Terry Tinker Saturday morning at her home at 620 DeBruhl Road, in Chester. The time of death is listed at 2:39 a.m., Aug. 27, the same time Hinson's oldest daughter, Danielle Brodeur, who lived in the residence, called 911.
"911 tried to give some member of the household CPR instructions," Tinker said.
The News & Reporter has learned that the crime scene was considered particularly gruesome by members of law enforcement.
The paper was told that a registered sex offender was living on the same street as Hinson, and Benson was asked if the man was a suspect. He repeated that he could not comment.
On Thursday. the newspaper learned that Perkins was in the Chester County Detention Center, charged with failure to register as a sex offender. While already on the state's sex offender registry. Perkins apparently did not notify the Sheriff's Office, which keeps the local registry of a change of address.
