Please don't let this thread make you feel like a failure. We are discussing TK in particular. If you read through the documents released regarding his crime when he was young, you will see that he comes from a very dysfunctional family, and while it seems some of his issues are just who he is, it's hard to ignore his upbringing as likely exacerbating the problems.

Truly, as none of us really can tell what any murderer's background really entailed. Yet if
this person, as a child, was brought before family court, they
would research the child history. You can't just take the child's word and you can't take the guardian's words, it must be objective and unbiased. Yet we have enough information in this case to surmise TK certainly had no structure, and the
courts already determined that. Honestly, we should be able to use the evidence in the profiling thread. I personally only go by the evidence (as sporadic as it is in regards to this: we have no final confirmation on TK's geneaology,
his definitive genetic disorders, or socially induced - childhood behavior).
Either way, for the amount of neglect that was
found proven to occur, it's out of proportion with the
ethical role in parenting Todd Kohlhepp
or anyone else. He wasn't my responsibility, and he wasn't anyone else's. You can only warn your child to stay away from strangers, but the younger girl he raped was not a stranger to TK. Either way, I figure while the obligations for leaving your child home alone back may have been lax, you can at least mentally determine what
factually contributed to TK's case, you can't leave him alone for days at a time to roam free - willingly
nor passively. I think the
survivors are owed these types of evaluations, it's not feeling for TK or his guardians, in the end, there's a victim who's wondering the same -
why this did happen,
how did this happen? RKohlhepp and biological father knew TK was being left to his own devices with alcohols (possibly poisons?) and weapons in the house. Whether or not he likes it that way is just insane, it reasonates that he would want someone in the house to supply him with necessitites like clothes, toilet paper, food, etc etc. They were told they were wanted, one person declined passively, the other by physically leaving him to go out with girlfriends. I don't think that's being disputed. They either wrote of it themselves or it was acknowledged by the neighbor.
I'm sorry if someone feels this relates to them in some way, but I do not know anyone's else's individual case, I am not here to assess anyone but TK. I don't feel compassion for TK as an adult, but it certainly needs to be said, he was a child at one point, and even a child such as TK deserves to be examined properly before being 'labeled,' if you will. All around, I'd say things were screwy to say the least, thus I denied full-blown genetics.
