There is an interesting coincidence concerning the Leopold and Loeb (LL) crime and the connection to JR. I might take a guess that JR knew of the LL kidnapping and murder of Bobby Frank. Loeb ‘s family had a summer estate in Charlevoix and the LL crime, though it occurred in Chicago, was likely a legend there.

As folks probably know JR’s family had owned a home in Charlevoix, Michigan, and vacationed in this town. It drew JR to establish a summer home there because his parents, brother and he had enjoyed so many summer vacations in this northern resort.

Richard Loeb’s father was Albert Loeb, a vp of Sears, Roebuck and Company. In 1918 Albert Loeb built Castle Farms, intended to showcase livestock and new farm equipment sold by Sears. It was closed in 1927, went through a number of transitions before it was acquired by an entrepreneur who completed a restoration in 2005. Today it is primarily used for weddings and receptions.

On July 21, 2011 JR remarried JR. They were married at Castle Farms. No one could ever prove that JR knew about Castle Farm’s history and its connection to what was once termed the Crime of the Century or that he had seen the famous LL ransom note, but Voynich’s post on this thread with comparisons is very interesting.

BTW, the book The Crime of the Century, authored by Hal Higdon, was copyrighted in 1995, perhaps published in 1996. A copy of the LL ransom note appears in the book. Didn't ST say they photographed the books in the R home?

qft, this post gave me chills. If JR killed JBR or authored the RN with LL in mind and then also married JR at Castle Farms, it would mean he is sociopathic beyond my worst imaginings. It might help explain some things about PR. But in any case, great research.

About the book - I didn't find anything about the copyright date but am seeing both the U. of Missouri and U. of Illinois cite an original publication date of 1976, with a 1999 reprinting (both on April Fool's Day - weird) to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the LL trial. Don't know whether that furthers anything, just saying….
