Match! TX - Houston, WhtFem UP4601, 15-20, Red Hair & Freckles, Jul'82 - Michelle Garvey

I e-mailed the respective contacts in each one's case, yesterday, they probably won't see it until tomorrow or next week, but I just couldn't wait...
Will let y'all know when I hear back, Promise!

In this article from 2011, "The county's forensic anthropology director, Jennifer Love, dubbed "the Bone Detective," has won a $180,957 grant from the National Institute of Justice that she will use to exhume 25 bodies" includes "a red curly-haired girl with freckles and an embroidered cowgirl shirt and matching pants - seemingly fresh from a rodeo - whose body was found hours after being strangled."

New to the site and loving every minute of it... Just wondering if there's any news on this young woman. :)

I emailed Harris County forensics to see if she is still unidentified, according to Harris county's site she still remains unidentified. It is odd that doenetwork never removed that information. Roxanne looks eerily similar to this UID.

Just got a reply:
"She is not identified. I am currently working on her case as an anthropologist and have submitted specimens for DNA analysis"

I mentioned Ms. Sims

Roxanne is already on their radar, she also said:

"Also wanted to say that I believe our girl to be younger and much shorter than Roxanne. But we have not excluded her."

Other than the height, which could be a guess or recorded incorrectly, this girl seems like a strong PM. IMO the teeth look almost identical. Hair color, eye color, freckles, and age all match up with our UID.

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/7083/5/

This UIDs sample has been sent into namus, IF they can extract DNA from the sample given it will go into the namus system, once that happens it will take about six months to run through all MP, and hopefully they will get a match. The good news is most girls that are strong PMs have DNA available.

Email received with updates tonight.
The exclusion is Lisa Sexton, YOB 1966 State LKA: Ohio

wow. thank you.

Did she maybe go dancing to a country western bar that night?

Glad to see Smurfette's crew here. :) If anyone can help solve this case, it's you guys!

I wonder what Dr. Derrick has to say about this case. I wonder if any of you have discussed this case with her yet?

This is wonderful news. Most NamUs missing will be ruled out and hopefully one will be a match!

Summer of 1980 was when the movie filmed at Gilley's was out and western wearn was all the rage. It was still popular in summer of 1982 and never really goes out of style in Houston. Gilley's and all of the C&W clubs were still in full swing and all the rage.

Based on the photograph, I think this person looks closer to 20-27.
