Police release additional information in case of missing Maleah Davis
An Amber Alert was issued Sunday in connection with the disappearance of 4-year-old Maleah Davis.

[...]

Timeline of Maleah's disappearance according to her stepfather:
  • Vence said he was driving a silver Nissan Altima and that he was on his way to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport to pick up Maleah's mother with his 2-year-old son and Maleah, according to Sgt. Mark Holbrook.

Police release images of vehicles in connection to Houston Amber Alert case involving 5-year-old girl
[...]

Sgt. Mark Holbrook of the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division told reporters Sunday that “I realize there’s a lot of blanks in the story.” He said police hoped the public could help them “fill in the blanks” in the narrative provided to them by Vence.

Vence told detectives that he, Maleah and the 2-year-old were on their way to George Bush Intercontinental Airport Friday night to pick up Maleah’s mother, who was flying in from Massachusetts, according to Holbrook.

Vence heard a “popping noise,” like a popped tire, Holbrook said, and pulled over to check on it.

A blue pickup truck then pulled up behind the vehicle. Two Hispanic males got out and one makes a comment that “Maleah looks very nice, looks very sweet,” Holbrook said. The other man hit Vence in the head and he lost consciousness.

Vence later woke up in the back of the truck with Maleah and the 2-year-old, he told police. There were now three Hispanic males in the truck.

He said he was in and out of consciousness until about 6 p.m. Saturday, when he woke up on Highway 6 with the 2-year-old boy. Maleah was missing, Vence said.

He then walked to a nearby hospital, where he received medical treatment and reported Maleah missing.

According to Holbrook, Maleah’s mother, Brittany Bowens, who also goes by Autumn Vence, was picked up from the airport Friday night by another family member. Holbrook said he is not aware of any report made by Bowens about Vence and her children being missing. Bowens told KTRK-TV that she called police Saturday morning to file a report because she was considered after not hearing from Vence.

Holbrook said Maleah’s biological father lives in the Houston area and has been in contact with police and is cooperating. Holbrook did not release Maleah’s father’s name.

Brittany Bowens told CBS News, “It’s like a nightmare. It just keeps going and going. I have to be strong for her. I have to. I have to believe that she’s okay. I have to because it’s the only thing that’s getting me through this.”

Police searching for 5-year-old possibly taken by three men in north Houston
The news has been hard on Davis's grandmother, Brenda Bowens, who said she hadn't slept in two days.

"I can't even imagine anybody going through what my family is going through," said Bowens. "It's unbelievable."

Bowens said Maleah's mom, Brittany, was out of town for her father's funeral and had returned to Houston on Friday.

Over the weekend, Brittany's sister posted a message asking for help in finding the missing family. In her post, the sister said that Brittany was supposed to be picked at the airport by Darion, her fiancé, and the kids but they never showed up.

Instead, Bowens ended up picking up her daughter from the airport in the rain as bad weather came into the area.

Bowens could not offer up any conclusions as to what led to Davis' disappearance, but said she wanted consequences for whoever kidnapped her "absolutely adorable" granddaughter.

"If anybody hurt my grandchild or they took my grandchild, I want them to be punished the way they are supposed to be because she was the sweetest little girl," said Bowens. "I miss her terribly."
