....
The family's attorney, Natalie Khawam, identified the man as Aaron Robinson, according to a BOLO circulated by Fort Hood Tuesday night.

CID also said a civilian suspect was taken into custody. "the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier."

A team of seven investigators is set to focus on three main objectives, according to a news release from Fort Hood Wednesday evening:

  • "Examining SHARP program implementation at Fort Hood;
  • Assessing whether the command climate is supportive of soldiers reporting incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault;
  • Identifying an potentially systemic issues with the SHARP program at Fort Hood, as well as any resource constraints."
The inspection team from Fort Bragg, N.C. is expected to brief Fort Hood and Army Forces Command leaders when they complete their investigation.

Forces Command and Fort Hood did not say if the investigation was related to Guillen's disappearance. Her family previously said Guillen did not report her harassment to her unit's SHARP representative.

The first image of the site where evidence was found was released on Wednesday. Remains were found nearby on Tuesday and Wednesday but it has not been confirms [confirmed] as Guillen

The remains found Tuesday and Wednesday in the search for missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen were hidden under concrete, investigators revealed.

Texas Equusearch's Tim Miller said that attempts had been made to keep the body well-concealed and it was discovered only after a man working in the area noticed a foul smell.

‘It appears he buried her, put lime on her, mixed up concrete, put that over her, put dirt over her, rocks and stuff,’ Miller told KHOU.

The investigation found its first piece of evidence last week which led them to believe that Guillen may be close by.

On Wednesday, a picture of the site was revealed for the first time as Miller announced they found the lid to a Pelican storage case which prompted them to continue the search in the area.

[..]

The remains have not yet been confirmed as the missing soldier.

Fort Hood is set to hold a press conference on Thursday afternoon to reveal more information.

[..]

The discovery was made as the Army announced they were promoting Guillen despite her missing status.

She was promoted to Specialist on Monday.

[..]

Volunteer group Texas EquuSearch came across the remains in an undisclosed area in Coryell County, not too far from the site where the remains of missing soldier Gregory Wedel-Morales were found on June 19.

TM reported on NG podcast that investigators/searchers previously received information from an eye witness that saw the suspect struggling to load the pelican plastic crate into his vehicle around 8:30 pm near the time VG disappeared in April. Reportedly, the same area had been searched on June 22 but was well concealed by rocks and firm ground (i.e., concrete base beneath the soil). Locating the lid of the pelican crate confirmed they were in the right area when they located the grave.

According to a statement from the Killeen Police Department, authorities located the suspect in the 4700 block of East Rancier Avenue (area pictured) around 1.29am Wednesday morning

The family added that they believe the suspect to be the person who sexually harassed Guillen before she vanished.

The suspect in question died Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot after police attempted to bring him in.

He is being described as a ‘junior soldier who fled his post’ but he has not yet been identified.

Police found him walking six miles from Fort Hood but when they approached he pulled out a gun and shot himself, they report.

A second suspect is in custody, believed to be a civilian and the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier. She has also not yet been identified.

It is not known if there is a connection between the two suspects and the Army has said it will hold back on releasing information as Guillen’s family call for the whole base to be closed down and investigated.

The Army has defended its decision not to release information saying that ‘doing so can seriously jeopardize the charging and successful prosecution of individuals’.

BREAKING: Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen bludgeoned dead with hammer in armory room, family lawyer says [EXCLUSIVE]
snipped
The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Unit met with Kwaham on Wednesday, after humans remains were found in a shallow grave close to the Leon River in Texas. The meeting with officials came months after 20-year-old Guillen disappeared from Fort Hood.

Officials told Kwaham that the evidence they had against junior soldier, Aaron Robinson, dated back to the day when Guillen disappeared, after a witness spotted him in an armory parking lot. Robinson’s girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar, the estranged wife of a Fort Hood soldier, was also involved, officials told Kwaham.

Robinson was not the person who called Guillen into work on her day off on April 22, the last day she was seen alive, but he’s the one responsible for killing her, Kwaham said.

BREAKING: Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen bludgeoned dead with hammer in armory room, family lawyer says [EXCLUSIVE]

[..]

When Guillen arrived at work, Robinson was already inside the armory room working. Guillen reportedly spotted photos of Aguilar on his phone and confronted him about having an affair with someone married to a former soldier.

[..]

At that point, an argument ensued, and Robinson allegedly told Guillen that she wouldn’t ruin his military career. He then grabbed a hammer and bludgeoned her to death, Kwaham said, leaving blood all over the armory room.

Robinson then hid Guillen’s body in a Pelican case, stored it inside the armory room, and left the base to buy supplies. He returned that evening and took the case to the Lake Leon area.

Kwaham said Robinson determined that he couldn’t dispose of Guillen himself and in turn, contacted Aguilar and asked her to help. Both Robinson and Aguilar then used a machete to hack Guillen’s body apart. They used cement to encase her body parts and get rid of evidence.

After leaving the scene, the suspects threw the machete, hammer, and a cellphone from a car window.

Although a witness saw Robinson leaving the base on April 22 with a Pelican case, no warrants were taken out until after investigators found the remains.

Officials told Kwaham that Guillen’s face had been bludgeoned so badly that officials could barely use dental records since her teeth were smashed in during the gruesome attack. She was identified through strands of hair, Kwaham said.

Army investigators have positively identified the remains of Spc. Vanessa Guillén, her family told The Washington Post on Sunday, more than two months after she vanished from Fort Hood.
Remains discovered Tuesday in a shallow grave east of the Texas installation triggered a manhunt that ended when one suspect — Spc. Aaron Robinson — killed himself as officers closed in, the Army said.
