I wonder if the family thought the attorney was going to do the trial pro bono beings he volunteered to defend the killer? I guess he did say that they stopped paying him but it makes me wonder.

Is this killer being charged with the murder of the baby too? If he isn't...why not? Anyone know?

Rodriquez, who murdered pregnant Summer Baldwin then confessed to murdering Joanna Rogers to avoid death will not get the death penalty after not complying with the plea agreement. He now refuses to plead guilty. Good.

Do you mean that he "will now get the death penalty?" The title says he will get the death penalty but the article says he will not get the death penalty.

I can't get into the article. Can you please post most of it?

Prosecutors withdrew an agreement with Rosendo Rodriguez on Wednesday morning and filed notice with the court that they would seek the death penalty.

Rodriguez, 26, is charged with capital murder in connection with the 2005 beating death of Summer Baldwin. He is also suspected in the disappearance of Lubbock teen Joanna Rogers, who vanished from her home in May of 2004.

Attorneys had hammered out an agreement months ago with Rodriguez where he admitted to killing Rogers and Baldwin, and would plead to a lesser charge of murder in exchange for a life sentence. That agreement was supposed to be finalized Wednesday

The rest of the article goes on about Rodriguez withdrawing his guilty plea agreement because he didn't understand the proceedings. Sounds like he got scared at the last minute :chicken:

Since Joanna was found yesterday I hope they also seek the death penalty against him for her. How many more women has he murdered?

Rosendo Rodriguez Guilty on Two Counts Of Capital Murder

Rosendo Rodriguez is guilty of two counts of capital murder. NewsChannel 11 was in the courtroom Friday when a jury of his peers said, yes, Rosendo Rodriguez did rape and murder Summer Baldwin and her unborn baby.
Since he's been found guilty, Rodriguez could face the death penalty. Rosendo Rodriguez was emotionless every day this week and even on Friday, when the verdict was read by the judge, Rodriguez remained stoic.

State District Judge Jim Bob Darnell on March 6 denied a motion for stay of execution. The defense team argued that prosecutors violated the so-called Brady rule by not telling the defense about a lawsuit against Lubbock County Medical Examiner Sridhar Natarajan.

The execution date is March 27, 2018.
