Tyler Logan, 19, walked into a Lubbock courtroom Tuesday morning, looking visibly upset and talking to himself. Once in front of the judge, Logan began to cry when he was told he was charged with killing his mother, Vicki Logan, and his 73-year-old grandmother, Wanda Turner. Police say that Logan killed both using his bare hands and rope.
Late Tuesday evening, KAMC-28 sat down with Tyler Logan`s best friend, who was the last person to see him before he turned himself in.
Brice Smith felt it was necessary for him to come forward and not only talk about Logan as a person, but to share what the last few moments with him were like.
"He kept telling me, `I didn`t do it, I didn`t do it`," recalls Smith. "I kept saying `If you did, tell (the police).`"
Smith says he told Tyler that on Sunday, just hours before he drove him to the sheriff`s office to turn himself in.
"We sat in the sheriff`s office parking lot for 10 minutes. "He said, `Come back and get me`," remembers Smith, of the conversation. "(He told me), `I just lost my mom and grandma, now I have to worry about staying out of jail.` He said, `I love you, I`ll call you,` took a deep breath, and walked into the sheriff`s office.
