UK UK - Isabella (Isabel/Izzy) Skelton, 35, Manchester, (may be in US), 6 June 1969

It’s a big jump from “police believe Izzy is still alive, here are pictures of what she could look like now” in October 2020 to “specialist teams are searching Izzy’s house” six months later.

I wonder what information they’ve found in that time.

Well, occams razor is certainly feeling very sharp in terms of what happened here.

I'm a bit confused on what happened to the kids, it's stated that they were sent up here to Scotland and yet that they were pretty much used as the new housewifes.

I wonder where the husband drive lorries? She could be anywhere.

She's been missing for more than 50 years... a 12-week search of her family home is over - and the agony for her daughter continues

Isabella Skelton went missing from her home in Crumpsall on June 6, 1969 - her daughter says she will never stop looking for her

Police who spent three months searching the former family home of a woman who disappeared 50 years ago say they have 'exhausted' all conventional lines of enquiry.

Isabella Skelton, nee McDowall, left her home on Lidiard Street, in Crumpsall, on June 6, 1969. She has not been seen since. Her daughter Linda Chapman has made numerous attempts to find her mum - known as Izzy - over the years.

She has placed newspaper adverts, worked with the Salvation Army and the charity Missing People and placed Isabella’s details on the Doe Network in America. Linda even sought the help of the Preston branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who have a huge family history library and archive at their base in Utah. But it wasn’t until Linda officially reported Isabella missing in August 2019 that police began investigating the case fully.

In April this year, detectives began a large-scale search of the family’s former home on Lidiard Street, in Crumpsall.

''The mum-of-three was 35 when she left her home in north Manchester back in 1969.

She disappeared just a few days before Linda’s 15th birthday, telling her teenage daughter she was going to work away.

Linda describes her mum as petite, neat and proudly presented, with curly hair.

Born in Glasgow on January 21, 1934, Isabella married Lewis Skelton in July 1952.

''The trained typist worked at Atlas Express and spent her free time devoted to her children, often taking part in “girly” activities with her only daughter, Linda''

''At the time of her disappearance, Isabella was 35 years old and it was thought she may have travelled back to her home in Anderston.
Now, Linda is hoping Glaswegians may hold the key to the decades-long mystery.
“She never really wanted to move down here,” Linda explained.
“She always loved it in Glasgow and she loved when her family came down here to visit.''

''Greater Manchester Police is continuing its search for the mother of three but, with little information to go on, officers are in desperate need of public assistance.

It’s understood Isabella attended school in Anderston Cross and had a good friend named Anna Owen''

(exact time unknown). Isabella worked for a Courier service in Manchester and there was a rumour that she may have travelled to the USA to work.''

Glaswegian Isabella Skelton, nee McDowall, was living in Manchester when she disappeared from her family home on June 6, 1969. Her children grew up thinking that the 35-year-old - who was known as Izzy - had left to go and work away for a period, but they never saw her again.

Now her eldest child Lynda, who always believed her mum may have returned to her beloved hometown, finally wants answers as the family prepare for another milestone birthday, the Record reports.

The 59-year-old said: “When I was told she was missing I always assumed she had gone home to Scotland. The police here say they’ve done everything they can but we’re left with so many unanswered questions.

“I hate to say it, but I fear mum may have died by now. Still, I’ve got to keep hope. Even if she has now died, I still need to know what happened to her. It’s been such a long time but it’s still raw. The same questions keep coming up again and again and it’s gut-wrenching.”

One man has been interviewed under caution on suspicion of her murder, but no one has been charged.
(…)
Lynda was 14 when her mum vanished and said her dad never spoke about it, regarding its a "taboo subject". She and her father have been estranged for 10 years.

(Isabella’s husband must be in his 90s…)

"Scottish mother-of-three who vanished aged 35 more than half a century ago was murdered, say cops."
