''The gruesome discovery of a prostitute's body lying half-naked in a pool of blood on a country footpath has led to a mystery that has baffled police for more than 30 years.
''Linda Guest's body was found on a bridlepath near Frampton Cotterell on Sunday, April 22, 1985 after she had been viciously and repeatedly stabbed with a knife.
The 35-year-old's clothing, a blue and white striped mini dress, was found in disarray and she had been the victim of a sexual attack.
Detectives immediately launched a major investigation with 100 officers trying to discover what had happened to the St Paul's mum.
But the twisted killer who left Linda dead after the horrific attack has never been found.''

At first Linda seemed to be a bit of a mystery. Neighbours, who lived in her Churches Housing Association block of flats, had no recollections of a Linda.
But the true story behind the sex worker gradually emerged. Her real name was in fact Jackie Waines and she was a mother-of-three.''

For Linda working the streets, it was a regular spot where she met men and that night was thought to have been seen by the driver of small Escort-type van.
But as well as two names, Linda also had two homes.
And it was her second council maisonette at Bevin Court, just off nearby Grosvenor Road, where she usually took her clients.
The last time she was seen alive, she was walking down the road in that direction.
But the mystery of what happened over the next 70 minutes – between 11.20pm and 12.30am – has never been solved.''

One was a picture of a shoe she had been wearing that night – the other in the pair was missing and was never found.
The other clue was a white two to three-ton van, with plain sides, no windows and some damaged paintwork on its offside - similar to one seen by witnesses at the spot where she was found stabbed.
The van was said to have been spotted around Frampton Cotterell at about 12.10am that Sunday morning, just minutes before the body was discovered.
A similar vehicle was seen at the Iron Acton and Latteridge road junction at around 1.40am.
Witnesses said that the driver was a slim man, aged 20 to 40, with short, dark hair and wearing a bomber jacket, and that he had been seen placing a large, white bundle on the ground by the side of the van.''
