Police have launched an appeal to the public as concern grows over the whereabouts of a missing woman who has not been seen since November.

Khasha Smith's family said they have not heard from her in more than two months, with their last contact with her on November 4, 2023.
The 35-year-old from the Calder area of Edinburgh is said to spend time in the Gorgie area of the city, with officers looking into whether she might be staying with friends there.

Ms Smith is described as being around 5ft tall, of a slim build and as having long, blonde hair and blue eyes.

It is not known what she is wearing, but another distinguishing feature is that she has several tattoos including one on her right wrist which says 'forever'.

Two months is such a long time, however maybe family dynamics meant they weren’t in contact with each other often. Hoping Kasha is found safe and well soon.
Her Facebook Khasha Smith ETA: sorry @Sarahlou I totally missed the link in your post, doh!

There appeared to be a husband and kids so it is certainly worrying if they haven't heard from her.

Officers are re-appealing to the public for help in trying to locate 35-year-old, Khasha Smith, missing from the Calder area of Edinburgh.

On Friday, 5 January 2024 a member of Khasha’s family contacted police to report her missing and inform them that she had not been in contact since the 1 and 4 of November, 2023.

Khasha is around 5ft tall, with a slim build. She has blue eyes and long, blonde hair. She also has tattoos, one which is visible on her right wrist and says ‘Forever’.

Extensive enquiries are under way to trace Khasha but there have been no confirmed sightings or contact since early November and her family is understandably concerned.

Officers are checking a potential sighting in Slateford between 21 and 24 of November, 2023. They are also reviewing any relevant CCTV footage in the hope that it will provide additional information on where Khasha has gone.

Inspector Keith Forrester said: “We are extremely concerned for Khasha. She normally maintains contact with her family and it is unusual for her to not be in touch for this length of time. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Khasha or who may have any information which could assist in us locating her to get in touch. Please don’t think what you know is irrelevant, let us decide its significance, your information could be vital in helping us trace Khasha.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3915 of 5 January, 2024.

Long time for her not to be in contact with anyone. I wonder if it was only noted around Christmas time when she didn't visit family? Be interesting to find out who reported her missing on the 5th

This is really concerning. Two months is a long time, especially over Christmas, for no one (were led to believe) to have had contact with her. The fact she has kids makes it even more troubling, as you would think she’d have been in contact with them. IMOO.

When this case suddenly gained media attention I did fear this could be the case - it seemed strange for a missing persons case to suddenly get publicity two months after she went missing.

I feel the police probably put it out there now to try to gather more information as they have reasons to believe she has not disappeared voluntarily

Detectives are extremely worried something sinister has happened to her. There are real fears for her. Khasha’s family situation is complicated and meant she wasn’t reported missing until a couple months after she was last in contact with certain relatives.”

The 'certain relatives' is interesting, perhaps suggests there is someone close who hadn't reported her missing. I suspect more concerns were raised after Christmas when she did not contact or see the children. The police search appears to be focused on the flat where she lived with her new partner and surrounding area. IMO.

Dogs have been used to search in the area.
" Police dogs were today deployed to search the nearby communal bin area and waste ground." Search for missing Edinburgh mum Khasha Smith is stepped up

If this potentially happened 2 months ago I am not sure what they will find in a communal bin area I’m afraid.

I feel the police are just biding their time at the minute and an arrest will be made pretty imminently.

This case reminds me a little of the Katie Kenyon case - in Katie’s case her on&off partner murdered her and messaged her family members from her phone stating she just needed time away for a while. The difference being here that Katies family were very close and they knew that the writing styles within the texts were completely different to how Katie would usually text. It states that Khashas family life was complicated so if somebody did this to Khasha then texted her family that she needed space for a few months they may have believed her - it was probably after Christmas when the alarm bells started ringing.

The last contact her close relatives had was 2 months ago in November

If something has happened to her it could have happened more recently than that.

I don't know why so many people say here and elsewhere say she's been 'missing for 2 months' because it's clearly implied that her parents did not have regular contact with her.

Her FB says she works for Edinburgh College. If she still worked there at the time of her disappearance, there must be a reason why they didn‘t report her missing or maybe she is not a permanent member of staff and they didn‘t notice.

Police have stepped up their search for missing 35-year-old Edinburgh woman Khasha Smith, with specialist officers spotted in and around her home at Calder in the west of the city.

The Scottish Sun newspaper has reported that specialist police officers with dogs have been seen searching a flat and metal containers on Calder Grove this morning, Thursday, January 11.

[...]

Police issued a renewed appeal on Tuesday to help find Khasha, as concerns grew for her safety, with officers saying it is “unusual” for Khasha not to keep in contact with her family. And now they have stepped up their hunt as fears for the missing mum's safety continue to grow.

Officers have been keeping guard outside the Calder Grove property all week, with Kasha’s family growing increasingly concerned for her safety.

Her FB says she works for Edinburgh College. If she still worked there at the time of her disappearance, there must be a reason why they didn‘t report her missing or maybe she is not a permanent member of staff and they didn‘t notice.
Or maybe she could have left the job and not updated it on her FB. I know colleges tend to close over Christmas but it appears the family reported her missing, there's no mention of her employer reporting her missing on the police posts. The college was closed from 25th December to 5th January
