One resident, who did not want to be named, said: 'The guy who lived there helped me out about two years ago pushing the car in the ice.
'He was a smallish chap, very fit looking. I haven't seen him in this street since late July. It could even go back a bit later than October.
'He was such pleasant guy, ever so nice. We had some snow and ice and he helped pushed my car out for me.''

Primary school’s shock as teacher is charged with murdering man found in garden

Oh my.

I wonder how long he'd actually been missing?

ETA: How old is their daughter? Did she wonder what mummy was doing in the back garden, all the digging? And no sign of dad?

Where was his work van?

I hadn't even heard he was missing, was it reported?

so many questions.

How the alleged was able to dig a hole large enough without neighbours seeing or hearing anything is mind boggling to me ( or perhaps they did and we haven't heard about it yet).

The Daily Mail link posted above quotes a neighbour:

“The neighbour added: 'He [Mr Billingham] had struggled for work during the pandemic so I offered him some work.

'I can see his garden from my house. It's just piles of mud.'”

Perhaps it’s been that way for a while, maybe the garden was being worked on in some way and the ground was dug up and turned over for a while? Alternatively, this is what happened as a result of disinterring the body. Lots of details of this case are very surprising.

As the CPS have stated in Court today that NB was allegedly murdered between 30 Oct-10 Nov, it may be that he was missing since some time in October.

JMO based on the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service’s submissions in Court today. Which are on the Court transcript as an official submission from the prosecutor.

I'm struggling to think of a case previously where the female partner has killed and buried the male partner in the back garden!

Will be interesting to hear details as they emerge but, I just help but feel for their child who's lost parents now :(
