#MISSING | Have you seen Nicola Bulley, who has gone missing from home in Inskip?

Nicola, 45, was last seen at around 9.15am today (Friday, January 27th) on the footpath by the river off Garstang Road in St Michael’s on Wyre.

She is described as white, 5ft 3ins tall, with light brown shoulder-length hair. She speaks with an Essex accent.

She was last seen wearing a long black gilet jacket with a hood, black jeans and olive green ankle wellies. Her hair was tied into a ponytail.

Immediately prior to going missing she was walking her dog, described as a brown-coloured Spaniel. Although the dog has since been found close to where we believe Nicola was last seen, we hope this might help jog the memory of anybody who saw her at around the same time and who may have information about where she was going.

UPDATE | We are continuing to appeal for information about missing Nicola Bulley, 45, from Inskip.

Nicola was last seen on Friday morning (January 27th) at around 9.15am on the footpath by the river off Garstang Road in St Michael’s on Wyre.

An investigation has been launched into her whereabouts and a significant, resource-intensive search in the area has been ongoing ever since, with drones, search dogs and other resources being utilised.

Our thanks to those continuing to support the police with the search, from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service utilising their staff and drone capability, Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team and the North West Underwater Search Team. This search will continue today and in to next week.

We are also supporting Nicola’s family and remain in close contact with them.

We are keeping an open mind about where Nicola may be and a team of detectives are also investigating the circumstances around her disappearance and are following a number of lines of enquiry.

We continue to ask for information about Nicola’s disappearance.

She is described as white, 5ft 3ins tall, with light brown shoulder-length hair. She speaks with an Essex accent.

Nicola was last seen wearing a long black gilet jacket with a hood, black jeans and olive green ankle wellies. Her hair was tied into a ponytail.

Immediately prior to going missing Nicola was walking her dog, described as a brown-coloured Spaniel. Although the dog has since been found close to where Nicola was last seen, we hope this might help jog the memory of anybody who saw her at around the same time and who may have information relating to her whereabouts.

As well as Inskip and St Michael’s, Nicola also has links to Thornton Cleveleys.

Anybody who has seen Nicola, or has information about where she might be, is asked to call 101, quoting log 473 of January 27th. For immediate sightings please call 999.

We have also become aware that a large number of people from the local community have organised a search of the area and we would urge them to stay safe. The river and its banks are extremely dangerous and searching these areas presents a genuine risk to the public.

Despite an extensive hunt all weekend, only her dog, described as a brown-coloured Spaniel, has been found.

The animal was discovered close to where it is believed Nicola was last seen off Garstang Road.

Police dive teams, drones, search dogs, helicopters and mountain rescue volunteers have all been deployed as part of the search.

But cops hope her brown spaniel may jog the memory of anyone in the area at the time of Nicola's disappearance.

Police say they are "keeping an open mind about where Ms Bulley may be" but stressed they are "extremely concerned about her"

TRANSCRIPTION OF POLICE UPDATE

30TH JANUARY

Police
- I'm here today to appeal for witnesses in the case of Nicola Bulley. This is a 45 yr. old lady, from the local area, who sadly went missing last Friday morning at about 9.15 a.m. She was last seen walking her small brown dog on the towpath of the River Wyre. The dog was found about an hour later, as was her mobile phone.

So her family are very concerned, as are we. We've mounted a really intensive operation to try and find Nicola, including a number of specialist officers from our Northwest Underwater Regional Search Unit and specialist investigators who are supporting the family, as well as a lot of partners like Bowland Mountain Rescue, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and others and the coastguard. We thank them very much, as well as local people who've turned out in force who were obviously equally concerned for Nicola and we appeal for anyone who may have been driving through the village of St. Michael's, last Friday morning at about 9:15, or who may have dashcam footage that could be of use to us, or people who may have been dog walking in the area or on the towpath, to come forward. They can ring 101 or if they have a sighting of Nicola, 999. Thank you. Happy to take questions.

Reporter - Do you know if Nicola was driving? Are you looking for a vehicle at all?

Police - No, Nicola was last seen on foot. Nicola's described, for those who were in the area, as slight build, 5 foot 3 inches tall. She was wearing a black gilet jacket, dark trousers and short green wellies.

Reporter - Where was her mobile phone found?

Police - Mobile phone was found on a bench near the riverbank.

Reporter - And was the dog tied up or...?

Police - No, the dog was loose and the dog was between the river and the bench.

Reporter - Are you searching any other areas apart from, obviously, near the footpath and the riverbanks? Is there any other areas in this local vicinity that you're checking?

Police - We've searched an extensive area along the riverbank out of St. Michael's, so that we're being really thorough and you can probably hear the helicopter in the distance. That has been up and about since Nicola went missing on Friday.

Reporter - Nowhere outside?

Police - Nowhere outside of this area, yes, this locality.

Reporter -What kind of (inaudible) using in the search?

Police - Yeah, we've been using our police helicopter, our regional helicopter. We've been using underwater search officers. We've got specialist search advisors who have been advising on the area to physically search. We've got a number of officers out on the ground, physically searching this rural area and of course the members of the public have been helping as well.

Reporter - (inaudible)

Police - Well, the police are keeping a really open mind about what could have happened, but we do believe that the likelihood is that Nicola's gone missing and that this is not a crime inquiry, but we are keeping an open mind.

"The police officer leading the investigation said today she believed Nicola’s disappearance unlikely to be “a crime”. Nicola’s mobile phone was later found on a bench near to the river. Her dog was also located nearby running free.

Police said Nicola was on a conference call with other people shortly before her disappearance but then placed her phone down, leaving the line open
."

Ms Bulley’s partner Paul Ansell, speaking from the family home in Inskip, Lancashire, said he spent all of Sunday searching for the mother-of-two.

The engineer, who has been in a relationship with Ms Bulley for 12 years, said: “It is just perpetual hell. It is just utter disbelief.

“We are living through this but it doesn’t feel real.

Ms Bulley did the school run before heading for the dog walk on Friday, police indicated.

“I got a call from the school regarding somebody who had found Willow, and Nikki’s phone and the dog lead and harness on the bench,” Mr Ansell, who then called the police, said.

“We take the kids to school and take the dog down there – either myself or Nikki – nearly every day.”

Ms Bulley, a mortgage adviser, has lived in Lancashire for 25 years but is originally from near Chelmsford, Essex, and has a southern accent.

She was last seen by a member of the public at about 9.15am, police said.

Superintendent Sally Riley from Lancashire Police told a press conference that fears for Ms Bulley are growing as time passes.

“All we can say is we need to find her. She’s got two little girls that need their mummy home.

“We have got to get some good news now.”

Mr Ansell said he or Ms Bulley, also known as Nikki, would drop the children, aged nine and six, off at a local primary school before taking Willow for a walk along the river nearby.

She said: “The police are keeping a really open mind about what could have happened but we do believe that the likelihood is that Nicola has gone missing and this is not a crime inquiry.

“We’ve mounted a really intensive operation to try to find Nicola.

“We’ve got a large area to search.

“People do go missing but clearly as time goes on we become more and more concerned for Nicola.

“But we’re very much hoping that we will find something to try to bring her home safe and well soon.

“We appeal for anyone who may have been driving through the village of St Michael’s last Friday morning at about 9.15am or who may have dashcam footage that could be of use to us, or people who may have been dog-walking in the area or on the tow path, to come forward.

'We appreciate there is a great deal of concern in the local area and that people want to help, however we would ask that nobody puts themselves in any danger.

'If anybody has any questions or concerns they are welcome to speak to officers in the area.'

Anybody who has information should call 101, quoting log 473 of January 27th, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.''
