US - 4/20 National "Weed" Day........

It's not illegal everywhere.

The only message we are sending to our country's young people by prohibiting marijuana is that we are a bunch of hypocrites.

I'm not talking about the message we are sending by prohibiting marijuana.
I feel it sends a horrible message to celebrate something that is illegal.

I would feel the same way no matter what crime was being committed.

If bubble gum was illegal I would think it was horrible to have a day where everybody said, screw it I'm chewing bubble gum.

IMO things that are illegal should not be celebrated.
IMO it sends a horrible message about lack of respect for laws and authority.

I have no problem with legalizing it. IMO we should just wait to celebrate in public until that day comes.

ETA: I need to change that!
I do have a problem with legalizing it. I don't want to see it legal.
But, that was not the point if my opinion.
And if it was legal, I wouldn't have a problem with stoners celebrating 4/20.

I hope this makes sense.

I believe laws should be respected.

I hear you and you definitely make sense.

I feel like ridiculous laws should be broken. And they WILL be broken - because they're ridiculous. Pot laws are about as ridiculous as laws get.

If it were legal there would be no more 4/20 celebration. The point of having a day is that they are trying in their own fashion to be civily disobedient.

I do not object to legalization, taxation and regulation. But until that happens, and I do think it is coming within the next decade, it is illegal and anyone who faces legal consequences for their actions cannot use ignorance as an excuse. Anyone who is currently smoking now where it is not legal or is doing so where it is without a valid prescription knows the risk they are taking, or at least I hope they do.

This darn thread has me listening to all these various drug songs I used to love

wow, this thread is taking me back.

Thanks for that--I love K's Choice, but hadn't ever seen that video. I might have to go dig out my albums now!
