Circumstances of Recovery On May 1, 1982 a company was dredging the bottom of the Jordan River. They placed mud on the west bank as they progressed. Later while walking along the bank someone spotted what they thought was a rock on top of the dredged material. They went to pick up the rock and discovered it was a human skull, minus the mandible. Police responded and sifted the material, more bones were discovered. The bones were determined to not be human bones. The Medical Examiner took custody of the skull. They determined there was a bullet hole in the forehead with an exit in the back of the skull. The medical examiner believed the skull was very old.

Details of Recovery

Condition of Remains Not recognizable - Partial skeletal parts only

While Namus doesn't specify an adult or child skull, presumably it would be mentioned if it was small/child-sized, so assume it is an adult.

Nancy Perry Baird (Namus MP11575) thought to have been abducted from her workplace in 1975. Workplace in East Layton was only 26mi from SLC and since she worked as a service station attendant, it's likely she was abducted in a vehicle.

Linda H Peterson (Namus MP1380) LKC 1978 ww.doenetwork.org/cases/2290dfut.html Reported missing by her husband in September 1978 from Murray, a short distance from SLC (though husband said she told him she was going to Kentucky).

Sarah Luella Snow (Namus MP59753) missing from 50mi away since September 1953. Her car and shoes were found 15mi from her home and if she travelled that direction she would have been driving away from the direction this UID was found, but including for completeness.

Less likely but included because there was known to be a gun crime associated with her disappearance?
14yo Dennise Sullivan (Namus MP8784) was vacationing in Moab when a man shot her mother and her mother's boyfriend, then kidnapped Dennise. A suspect shot himself when stopped by police two days later; her remains are thought to be in the Polar Mesa area which is 271mi away.

I would say that Nancy Baird is a likely possible match among the possible matches you mention.

By "very old", do they mean the age estimate of the victim or the actual date of death?
