First time here. I have been reading websleuths for a few months now, but had not joined until yesterday.
I live in McCleary, WA and would like to point out a few things about our little town. In order to do that, please refer to the map I am going to try and post below.
Maple is a two-way street, by the way. The only one-way that I know of is right there parallel to 3rd street.
3rd street and Simpson are the two busiest streets. McCleary is located at a junction that causes this. Thus we get a lot of out-of-towners driving through to get the main highway or headed towards the Casino. So, it may be a small town, but it sees it's share of traffic.
Although you can't tell from the map very easily, 3rd street is on a pretty good incline from South to North. So as you head into town, you must ride the brakes not to exceed the 25 mph speed limit. This in turn has caused a police officer to often sit and radar from the bottom of the hill, on the side of the police station. This vehicle is parked there a lot and it's hard to tell if someone is in it or not. This being the case, if Lindsey was abducted on 3rd street, that person would be taking an awful chance that someone might be in the police vehicle and witness the abduction, if it was some just driving through. (I do not know if the police vehicle was there that night at the time Lindsey would have been passing through.) The gas station is pretty bright too. I think it is unlikely though that she would have been abducted on that main street unless someone knew no one was in the police car or it had just left. This town is pretty small, it doesn't take long to patrol it. Also, she does not have to walk up 3rd street as the route would suggest. She could have easily crossed 3rd and walked behind the gas station to cut through onto Mommsen St.
Businesses open in the area at the time would have been the convience store, the gas station, the local tavern and the hospital, all noted on the map. Other than that, the town is pretty dead after 9:00pm, even on Friday and Saturday nights. It's possible the perp could have been a customer / visitor at one of these establishments or was just headed through.
This area is dense with timber also. In any direction you can go are wooded side roads just outside of town.
Well that's my 2 cents. Hope it helps clear some things up.
