Authorities seeking help finding Windsor couple missing since July 1 (PAYWALL)

A village of Windsor couple has been missing since July 1 and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public help in finding them.

On Wednesday, a family member reported that Bart and Krista Halderson were last seen on July 1 at their home and that they had planned a trip to Langlade County for the weekend and the family has been unable to confirm if they arrived safely, Lt. Brenda Reinen said in a report.

Bart Halderson is 50, and Krista Halderson is 53, Reinen said.

Their personal vehicles are accounted for, so there is no known vehicle to associate with the couple, the Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer said the couple still was missing as of Thursday morning.

Anyone with information on the couple is asked to contact the Dane County Communications Center at 608-255-2345 or the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 608-284-6900.

'They got picked up and left with another couple': Son not sure missing parents made it to their destination
Their son, Chandler Halderson, said the couple left for the weekend trip before 6 a.m. Friday.

“They were picked up by their friends, who I never got the name of. I assumed it was someone I was aware of, like close neighbors of theirs up the street, or their best friends down on the east side,” Halderson said. “That’s what I assumed. I didn’t look any more into it. They got picked up and left with another couple.”

Video at link includes off-camera interview with Bart & Krista's son, CH.

The son of a missing Windsor couple said his parents planned to go with friends to the family's cabin by Sawyer Lake more than three hours away, but says there's no sign of them there and there's been no contact with them for days.

"We'll find them," Chandler Halderson said of his parents, Bart Halderson, 50, and Krista Halderson, 53. "It's better to not listen to the negative theories," he says.

Authorities continue to search for Dane County couple reported missing
A family member reported Wednesday that Bart and Krista Halderson, ages 50 and 53 respectively, were last seen on July 1 at their home near DeForest, the sheriff’s office stated.

They were reported missing Wednesday after they did not return from a trip to their cabin in Langlade County over the July 4 weekend.

Chandler Halderson spoke to NBC15 Thursday and said he helped his parents pack up the night before their trip and hasn’t seen them since.

“They told me Thursday that they’d be going up to the cabin for the weekend with their friends,” Chandler Halderson said.

Chandler Halderson said his parents were getting picked up by friends that Friday, planning to be up north for the Fourth of July weekend

Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett is expected to provide more information during a news conference on Friday.

Dane County Sheriff: Human remains found in investigation of missing Windsor couple (PAYWALL)
Chris Rickert | Wisconsin State Journal
Human remains have been found in a rural area of Dane County in connection with the investigation into a missing Windsor couple last seen more than a week ago, Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said Friday.
Barrett said the Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy and would not say whether the remains found Thursday were believed to be those of Bart and Krista Halderson.

The members of Dane County Sheriff’s Office first want to extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Bart and Krista Halderson. This has been a trying and emotional time and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is doing everything we can to bring closure and justice to this investigation.
As we shared in a news release last night, Chandler M. Halderson, age 23, is currently being held in the Dane County Jail on a charge of providing false information in a missing person investigation. Chandler is the son of Bart and Krista.
Our investigation began on Wednesday, July 7th, when Chandler reported his parents missing at approximately 11:30 am that day. According to Chandler, his parents had left their Village of Windsor home early Friday morning with an unknown couple to spend the 4th of July holiday weekend at their cabin in White Lake, WI, but did not return as expected. Our investigators immediately began efforts to locate the Haldersons, including reaching out to the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office to check the property in White Lake, but no one was located at that residence.
As the investigation progressed and detectives interviewed friends, family and neighbors of the missing couple, information was provided which resulted in detectives finding human remains on a rural property in Dane County on Thursday, July 8th. A search warrant was obtained for the property and deputies are continuing to search that land for additional evidence. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to that scene Thursday night and will be conducting an autopsy of the remains at some point this weekend. It is important to mention that the remains have not yet been identified.
This is still a very active investigation and the Sheriff’s Office continues to ask for citizens to contact them if they have any information related to the Halderson’s and their disappearance. Tips can be left on the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 608.284.6900 and callers can remain anonymous.
