WI WI - Vernon Co, WhtFem 50-65,261UFWI, severed hands, dentures, May'84

sorry just trying to get used to this, im a rookie lol but what about
Dorothy Lucille Murrell
May 4 the body was found. Dorothy Lucille Murrell was seen by family May 24. While the family could be wrong/lying if they are protecting someone, Ms. Murrell is said to have a “steel pike in hip.” I think the X-ray of the body would have picked that up.

Important takeaways from the articles above:

- The woman was not killed where her body was found, since no blood was found at the scene
- The woman was killed by a blow to the head
- She wore dentures with the numbers "420" inscribed and "P85" or "289" in raised lettering
- She was likely killed less than 48 hours before her body was found
- Officials believe she was killed within a 150-mile radius of Vernon County
- The killer was spotted by a couple on Holte Road at around 9:45 p.m. as he was attempting to dump the body. Some of the woman's belongings were found on Holte Road
- The killer drove a yellow compact car, possibly a Toyota or Datsun
- The killer most likely drove to the area on Highway 14 from La Crosse

ETA: I wonder if the couple got a good enough look at the man to provide a description or if it was too dark out for them to see anything. It's remarkable that witnesses saw the body being dumped and yet neither the victim nor her killer have been identified.
Nothing about license plates. Wonder if he was from out of state? A bit on the bold side!

I love the DDP for their honesty and devotion. Handing a case they were unable to crack over to another forensic lab that may have more sophisticated techniques is a sign they care about the case, not their own ego.

Sorry if the format on this is weird I’m on mobile.

So I’m very new to all this stuff so this could be totally off. But I really see a resemblance between the Doe and Marjorie Joan Linehan who went missing from Sacramento in 1982. Their age ranges, eye and hair colors are the same, the noses are nearly identical, and their face shapes are pretty similar based on the reconstruction of her. The only photo we have of Marjorie is around 11 years before her disappearance and there is extremely little info about her case so it would be impossible to know any info about dentures/surgical scars.

As far as the 2 year gap between her disappearance and the doe being found, Marjorie’s NamUs page lists her as a “voluntary missing person”, so perhaps she lived in the region longer and then somehow found her way to WI… Investigators also noted that the pollen on her clothing before her death was from the southwest US which adds up. She is not listed as an exclusion yet on NamUs either. Again, maybe this is all a total stretch. Just want answers for them both!!

'According to Sheriff Torgerson, her face had been bludgeoned and both of her hands had been cut off, likely in an effort to make it difficult to identify her. “We believe that she was killed at a different location and dumped like a piece of garbage on Old Line Road,” Sheriff Torgerson told Dateline. Authorities do not know where the woman was actually killed.'

''They determined that the Jane Doe was between 50 and 63 years old, with graying brown hair and blue eyes. She weighed approximately 150 lbs. and was about 5’5”.

'This case was submitted to Dateline by someone who believes they may be related to Vernon County Jane Doe. Sheriff Torgerson said that the department receives “a lot of calls like this” and that, as they receive those types of calls, they check the DNA against Vernon County Jane Doe to try and identify her. No information has been publicly released about a positive DNA match. '

It’s interesting that the sheriff chose not to comment on how long they believe she’d been deceased before she was found. Obviously police often withhold information and for good reason, but they’ve previously disclosed that she had likely been dead for a day or two.
