WV WV - Bath, WhtFem 30-35, 512UFWV, hysterectomy, permed red hair, May'50

Lora Skaggs is the only name on this woman's ruleouts list (https://identifyus.org/en/cases/10026).

Both Doenet and Namus have the postmortem photo but it's not bad at all. No obvious injuries, she looks peaceful. It's fairly clear (especially as old photos go) but I can only just barely make out the scar on her forehead. It seems to be horizontal and elongated, the kind of ragged scar you get from catching your head on a nail in a stable or shed. Her hands aren't in the picture to check the other scar.

Re: home permanents -- Goodness that brings back memories. My mother, my grandmother, and I used to get together and all do our perms together. It was fun. We never had any problems, but then we can read and follow directions :) And Lilt is still available (http://www.overstock.com/Health-Bea...Hair-Foam-Perm-Pack-of-4/4466155/product.html)

How was Lora Skaggs ruled out? Her Namus page still says DNA samples submitted - tests NOT complete.

If it was a home perm, were they things you could do on your own or was it a two person job (eg to make sure you got even coverage of the lotion at the back of the head)? If it was a two person job it looks as though it was done fairly shortly before her death as there's nothing I can see in the morgue photo to suggest it had started to grow out.

My MIL does all of her perms her self, and they turn out very well.

OK, that's useful to know.

I'd been thinking that if it was a recent two-person job that she might have had a daughter or a fairly close friend that she'd seen recently but who for some reason did not report her missing. Scratch that idea.

However I wonder if the auburn was natural or also out of a bottle. Presumably hair dyeing was also done at home in those days.

Height is a bit off age is within reason, the point of her nose is catching my eye. She also had 10 kids.

She had some mental health issues before her disappearance and stayed in an Ohio state mental hospital for a brief period.
