“LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A California man staying at a Las Vegas Strip resort over the holiday season is considering legal action after he said his testicles were stung by a scorpion while he was asleep.

Michael Farchi, of Agora Hills, said he woke up in excruciating pain during his stay at the resort.

“I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area,” said Farchi. “It felt like a sharp glass or a knife.” Upon investigation, Farchi said he found the source of the pain.

“I went to the restroom, and I saw a scorpion hanging on my underwear,” Farchi said of the Dec. 26 incident. Afterward, the man and his family checked out early, one day later, on Dec. 27. The hotel compensated him for his room.”

"I knew that I had to speak out to prevent the shooting from happening," Swallen said.

In February, Swallen says a Mariemont High School classmate told him about a plan to carry out a mass shooting at the school.

"When I heard him talking, I knew that he was serious and I knew he was not joking, so I just kind of knew right away that I needed to tell people ASAP," he said.

Because he spoke up, Mariemont Police officers launched an investigation. Those officers say he may have prevented a tragedy.

United Airlines Boeing 777 flight from San Francisco to Tokyo loses tire on takeoff from SFO, diverts and lands safely at LAX
A United Airlines jetliner bound for Japan made a safe landing in Los Angeles on Thursday after losing a tire while taking off from San Francisco.

Fire engines stood by at Los Angeles International Airport but weren't needed, as the Boeing 777 made an uneventful landing and stopped about two-thirds of the way down a runway. Airport spokesman Dae Levine said the plane landed safely.

It was then towed away.

The flight carried 235 passengers and a crew of 14, United said. The airline said that the plane, built in 2002, was designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires. The passengers will be moved to another plane for the rest of the trip, United said.
