In 1980, a young girl was found murdered along a rural road in Texas. Despite extensive investigation, she remained unidentified and became known as Walker County Jane Doe. This case remained unresolved for over 40 years, until advances in forensic DNA made identification possible. Using a process that enables investigators to identify individuals from DNA, even when no known reference exists, investigators were able to restore her identity and move the case forward.
