Board urges discipline for Montana judge who gave short rape sentence

(CNN) -- G. Todd Baugh, the Montana judge who drew a firestorm of criticism after sentencing a former high school teacher to a month behind bars for raping a 14-year-old girl, is the subject of a formal complaint from a judicial review board to the state's Supreme Court.

An attorney for the Judicial Standards Commission filed the four-page document on Monday, saying Baugh "eroded public confidence" in the judicial system and "created an appearance of impropriety."...

I agree, that was a slap on the wrist and should have been a much harder sentence. Makes me wonder about the Judge.

An attorney told me once that Judges are almost always lenient in matters that they also do, or are close to their own faults HMMMM!?

Glad to hear this judge may face discipline! This was one of the most ridiculous sentences I have ever seen and coupled with the Judge's comments about the victim being sexually knowing just :ill:

His sentence was overturned, BTW and he will go in front of a different judge and do some time. (At least 4 years, I believe)

I can't think of any punishment short of immediate expulsion.

My suggestion to people who click that link is to immediately turn down the sound. It's horrible to listen that poor mother.

At least this is a much better sentence, but I wish it was ten years without parole. I also wish the judge had been disbarred.
