Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - Day 19 - Shortest Court Day, EVER

Status
Not open for further replies.
A really egregious act in my books is having Juan interview Neumeister-finally, then pulling him from the trial and putting Sue in his slot, someone whom Juan had not interviewed, while wasting Juan's time with Neumeister. Which is why the jury was sent home immediately after they arrived and why there is no trial this week, because Juan was forced to ask for time to interview Sue. Where are the sanctions?

Perhaps KN didn't realize how much BN didn't understand until the "I know nothink" Sgt. Schultz interview.

Again, she's the judge. This might be her first capital case, but it's not the first capital case of all time in the USA or in Arizona. She has decades of case law she can access, decades of COA and Supreme Court rulings to guide her. She's a judge. She knows/should know that the D.T. will cry "mistrial/appeal" at every opportunity and she should know which things have a chance to be successful on appeal. The things she feels would not stand on appeal, shouldn't be allowed. Judges are there for a reason. JSS can't just leave all the important decisions over to the Courts of Appeal; she's not much of a judge then if that's how she operates.

Just going on what AzLawyer types here, since I don't know much about Arizona Law, but some of JSS' decisions (especially allowing JA to testify in secret) are baffling and have proved that they wouldn't have a chance in hell on appeal.

JMO!
This judge's paralyzing fear of being overturned on appeal is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. I hope that the distractions created by the killer and her defense team on the most basic issues (I mean, come on, allowing a convicted killer to testify in complete secrecy during the mitigation phase! :banghead:) haven't caused the judge to make a bad ruling on the far more complicated issues in this case. I no longer have any confidence in this judge. :moo:

Respectfully snipped by me.

But, that isn't really entirely true. Nurmi didn't file with the ASC until 8:30 AM on Jan 5th.

Sherry had had the COA's decision since the 3rd of November for the 3-panel and since the 26th of November for the whole shebang.

Either Sherry never had any intention of following the CoA's order or she is enabling Nurmi by not acting until HIS 30 days were up. I say she's in bed with them.

FGS, She won't even order the DT to let Juan get what the computer guys used to assert Prosecutorial misconduct, let him have ample time for depos/interviews or give him access to pseudonym, without 7000 pages to go through. MOO

And AZlawyer said JSS does NOT have to wait on the supreme court. FYI to Steely.

So have we moved on to the actual *advertiser censored* now and whether or not it will be allowed in or are we still talking "misconduct"?
P.S I still LOL at the fact that JW and KN filed that motion and leaked it's contents via Maria to the press (speculation :p) without bothering to find out who exactly had the laptop the day things were supposedly deleted!

Perhaps KN didn't realize how much BN didn't understand until the "I know nothink" Sgt. Schultz interview.
Seems to me it is a stunt for Nurmi to keep Juan busy running in circles with things that mean nothing, either hoping to trip him up or wear him down. I hope that bulldog stays in the fight and he is as mad as we are.

N
I honestly believe she cringes at the sight of JA. And all the other judges in her district are thanking their lucky stars that they weren't assigned to this manipulative psychopaths case...

I want to go pro se. Never mind I don't. Wash ~ spin ~ bleach ~ REPEAT
I'm filing 640983728 motions today
I'm filing 487 appeals today
I know my rights
I have my rights
I am always right

JA files all of these ridiculous motions and appeals to cause nothing but delays. She's in her element of control because she knows they have to have hearings on them...(more delays) and that the attorneys have to argue the motions. delays............

I actually feel sorry for JSS....
MOO ~ and yes, I am ducking as I run

I feel sorry for her too, somewhat. But a lot of this, she has brought on herself by not being. More firm.

And AZlawyer said JSS does NOT have to wait on the supreme court. FYI to Steely.
I distinctly remember the judge telling Nurmi that that trial would NOT be delayed while they waited on the SC, yet here we are.

I believe that's the time Juan protested at Arias speaking, and JSS directed her to another judge. I've never heard any more about what that was concerning.

IMO JSS is now in over her head, lacking in self-confidence. While I understand that she is virtually at the legal mercy of a malicious murderer demanding every 'right' known to man, she should be able to run this trial in a timely manner, and keep order and discretion in her court. My main concern with the present state of affairs is that the jury is hearing little scraps of testimony now and again, both out of order and appearing irrelevant. If they remain intact, how they are supposed to make head nor tail of all this is beyond me.

That's my issue as well. Hopping all over the map, starting a new witness before finishing with another. So far 2 defense witnesses have testified that the prosecution hasn't been able to cross.

I distinctly remember the judge telling Nurmi that that trial would NOT be delayed while they waited on the SC, yet here we are.

Is the delay due to the SC? I thought JM needed time to interview Pseudonym and read the giant box of motion?

I don't think there's one compos mentis person out there who puts a lot of stock in this judge.

Jodi has "defiled" this Judge (compromised her integrity) and now all she does is befouling Juan (casting aspersions upon him).

I'm pretty sure she (the Judge) will get overturned on appeal...

That's what's so frustrating and we aren't even on the jury. I know...from time to time, it HAS to be done out of order, scheduling and all.

But, how can the jury ever grab the meat off the tiny bone with their teeth and really sink in with conviction when the presentation is so disorganized? This is Jodi's time to shine, where is the story line, where is continuity, WHERE is the MITIGATION?

For that matter...WHERE is the TESTIMONY? OF ANYONE?

Sherry must have a bankroll bet on a mistrial on this one.

Could someone please correct me if my thinking is wrong?

Does tomorrow start at 8:30 with the media stuff then court at 10:30 with possibly Sue or BN or Geffner or JA?

I just want to make sure I'm here on time "refreshing" with the rest of you. TIA

The nice thing about the way things have gone is the jury will be much fresher on the states case than the defense, JMO.

Some good stuff there (if you can get past the typos). One aspect is really a simple question. Did Travis have all these "blockers" because he was trying to hide his *advertiser censored* habit or because he was trying to fight something that had been planted maliciously (by bad code or by JA) that he couldn't figure out how to get rid of? I'm going to guess at least a few of the jurors have been through infections where you start downloading

all sort of things to try to get rid of something that has invaded your computer. Having lots of "blockers" is a sign of trying to avoid all this stuff,
not to participate in it and hide from it.
if everyone recalls TA found out about something jodi did that he claims hurt him more than anything. He told her she lies even when she is found out. He told her she had 24 hrs to come clean or he was going to tell everybody what she did. THIS COULD BE IT. I always felt she killed him for reasons other than wanting to take someone else to Cancun.

I distinctly remember the judge telling Nurmi that that trial would NOT be delayed while they waited on the SC, yet here we are.

But, that is not the reason for the delays to my understanding.

Oral argument on the media's motion will be heard tomorrow at 8:30 am in the State v. #JodiArias.
1/7/15, 3:11 PM

Can we dare to hope she releases Arias' transcript after this? Or will she say the matter is now being taken up with the ASC and she has to wait for their ruling? Guesses anyone??

I distinctly remember the judge telling Nurmi that that trial would NOT be delayed while they waited on the SC, yet here we are.

But, that is not the reason for the delays to my understanding.

That's correct. The delay is for computer-*advertiser censored* issues, not because of the AZ Supreme Court appeal.

BBM

For which ruling(s)?

Because she is a waffler, my guess is she will wait for a slap down from the supreme court.

7000 pages. That's 14 reams of paper.
0003650009995_A
plus four more reams.

I hope they didn't fax that one.

That is also the equivalent of approximately 800 toilet tissue rolls, enough so Nurmi can wipe his arse for the next 8 years, which is the only thing this 7000 page report is good for, good grief, what a waste.
