Man allegedly raped girl at day-care

A NEW Zealand national trusted to protect and care for children at a family day care has been charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl and the attempted rape of her four-year-old sister.

Details of the charges against the 56-year-old from the Logan area, south of Brisbane, were revealed when he was released on bail by Supreme Court Justice John Bond.

Police allege the man raped the girl and tried to rape her sister while they were being cared for at his home between July last year and April 28.

The man, whose wife operates the in-home daycare, has been charged with nine counts related to child molestation and rape.

He allegedly told both girls “don’t tell anyone”.

In his objection to bail affidavit, senior constable Amarjeet Kumar told the court the man “was acting as a carer for these vulnerable children” when the alleged attacks took place.

“He was well trusted by the victims’ family to protect and look after these children,” Constable Kumar said.

“He was in a position of authority.... the children felt helpless and defenceless to protect themselves and protest against these abuses,” Constable Kumar said.

Police allege the man raped the 11-year-old on the couch of his home, and showed her pornographic videos on his iPhone while driving her to school.

He allegedly asked her to perform sex acts on him which she refused.

The girl’s four-year-old sister told police she performed a sex act on him in the lounge room after the man showed her how.

The 11-year-old told police she witnessed this.

The man was charged on May 4, six days after the claims were reported to police, and he denied any involvement in child molestation.

The court was told the victims’ mother fears the man, and is worried he will contact her and ask for the charges to be dropped.

The man warned the 11-year-old “against telling anyone” and she appeared very fearful of him, the court was told.

Justice Bond banned the man from contacting the family as a condition of his release on bail.

The court was told he had a “blue card” clearing him to work with children but he was not a “licensed worker in the business”.

The man’s wife has shut down her daycare centre and told the court she was “taking steps” to inform authorities.

He is due in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 30.

How many in-home daycares would have shut down in April this year due to an incident? Not many. Probably one.

That's why the CCC are investigating him already. In light of this, how is it he wasn't arrested for Tia's murder before now?

My thoughts exactly about the CCC. And his whole family lied for him!

It sounds like it may be the same 56 yr old mentioned above on other charges..I have to think it wasn't just the son molesting Tiahleigh. This case is just so sad..devastating. that someone put in such a position of trust to ensure the safety of a vunerable child could do this...I think there is a whole lot more to come out on this. And poor Tiahleigh did not have a chance in this world...so very sad.

(it has been a long time since I have posted on here..though check in from time to time..I could not help but comment on this one, though its hard to put into words the horror of it)

Im not surprised he tried to take the easy way out. His life isn't going to be worth living.

This is truly a shocking case and I think there is still more to come. This filth should he taken out to sea and fed to the sharks!
