I thought about this, too, as that's what I've done in the past. However, guy supposedly had millions. But I do think someone else was on to something when they mentioned this was a more regular dose for detoxing.

A doc wouldn't do that with valium

Why would he need so many cell phones? Investigating those and the history should prove interesting.

I read he was worried about being without coverage so he had two phones from two different carriers.

Who was calling him? By all accounts, the guy has no friends and doesn’t even talk to his family often. Weird.

-I haven’t heard why and I would like to know that if anyone else has the answer. TIA

Paranoia? Manic?

The two cell phones has a paranoia feel to it as well.

If there is no connection to the amount of guns in the room to selling , in desperation for money that too is a pretty expansive thinking process.

They said he spent 8 nours non stop the night before (insomnia)

we know alone his room service delivery might be considered expansive or paranoid as well

I read he would not let housekeeping in - so room service is a hassle to move all that stuff into the other room

the other room being locked might be perceived as paranoia as well

Who knows they may have done it and not released but staff the night before in the room where he did not budge for 8 hours might be helpful to know state of mind

At another level it is a pretty expansive as well to machine gun get away blow up et

But if arms dealing some explosive stuff might be on the shopping list?

200 rounds into the hallway for a hotel sec guard has a overkill feel to it as well- especially if he could see where the sec guard was

just ramblings!!

Right. Why did he absolutely need a phone that was on a network? I have two different phones in two different networks, though. One is personal and one is business. My personal one is for Facebook/internet and my work one is just for work. I love when the work network one goes down and it's really not a huge deal when the personal one goes down. I'll be curious to see who he called and had to be on the network for.

Edited to add: my husband, best friend and mom have two phones each as well for the same reason. I think my husband's are on the same network. They are company provided phones in these cases.

I cannot believe that there are people who cannot believe he acted alone. These same things have been said in many, many mass shootings only to find out... they acted alone.

Along those lines, something else that keeps bugging me is WHY on earth did SP set up all those cameras and then not even record? Can anyone think of a reason for that, particularly the one in the hallway?

If there is not a whole bunch more complicated stuff to this -- the cameras sound like wanting to kill himself by himself and know when they come in they will do so moo

The sec guard confirmed ( bizarie to beleive that might be hard!) location known and so he proceeded with suicide

Interesting. Would such a person with this disease be able to pull off such precise, intricate, seeming long-range planning and carry it all out if they were easily confused and befuddled?

I kinda think the making resv and not showing up is more mood related= when profoundly depressed and suicidal make the resv - when date closer not yet ready to kill himself

anyone know the actual dates of all those resv and or when made

What would the weight of his arsonal be -- and he is cheap so that might explain avoiding a bellhop

Wonder if the guns still in his car might be more not in the mood to schelp any more out and up

wonder if his car was taken out of valet

mileage on car ( think rental ) might be helpful
did he cruise for prostitutes?

hypersexuality very often component of bipolar

did find the ladies of night calling him cheap somewhat amusing is he bargaining for less time needed!!

LOL ha and my thoughts were no these ladies are not going to work for free. I agree with you though.

Of course prostitutes aren't going to work for free, but presumably the allegation is that client doesn't pay, whoever provides the prostitutes does.

I,have only been in Vegas at the airport, staying at a motel right by the airport. I have had zero desire to ever go there so my knowledge is based on nothing.

I imagine the hotels to be filled with cameras. Not true?
The casinos have cameras covering every inch, and other high tech surveillance like facial recognition software.

The hotels have nowhere near the same amount of cameras. Depending on the property, I know some only have cameras in the lobby and public areas of the hotels.

No idea where Mandalay Bay had cameras, but I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't any at all on the guest floors.

I still wonder if SP wasn't in the beginning stages of something like Lew Body Dementia- some of his symptoms and
erratic behaviors would certainly fit.
One of first symptoms noticed by the caretaker (gf) is sleep problems, hallucinations, mood changes, acting out their dreams, behavioral changes.
this could be what MD witnessed when he was moaning and screaming in bed.
With LBD, depression is common. Physical, cognitive and behavioral changes occur and onset is rapid and acute.
Interestingly benzodiazepine is to be avoided as it can cause acute confusion, delusions and hallucinations.
Caretakers will also notice REM sleep disorder, with violent movements.
Rapid onset with rapid cognitive and physical decline in first few months.

Maybe SP knew something was going on within his brain and body. Anger and depression took over.
Would certainly explain the rapid mental decline.
If anyone wants to read more, this disease is fascinating.
If I were a gambler, this is where I'd put my money on a diagnosis.
I believe robin Williams was diagnosed upon autopsy of LBD.

I am not sensing a sudden decline -- seems lifelong imo.

his inability to hold a job a couple of marriages addiction to gambling and probably alcohol now we find out benzos which are highly addictive (help with manic sleep issues ?), have tolerances which might explain dosing.

The valium and dosing kinda made me thing long term use /abuse- valium is pretty old school!!

All for losing money in my joint!!

Brain Donation to Research Having tech probs, so could not quote Q about why a donated brain might be turned away.

"... other dementias, including research into new treatments.
Brain donations are essential to furthering these research advancements. Planning ahead will help in this process of giving the ultimate gift.
[h=2]"Arrangements must be made with a research center, tissue or brain bank, or university well in advance of the person's death.[/h]
  • Many organizations are not set up to accept a brain donation without prior arrangement; there may be eligibility requirements and consent forms to sign.
  • Research centers often only accept brain tissue from individuals who have participated in a research study.
  • If the person with Alzheimer's did not make his/her wishes known for brain donation, the next of kin or legal guardian makes the decision.
  • Your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association may have a directory of the brain banks and research centers nearest you.
  • "National Institutes of Health (NIH) NeuroBioBank
  • The NeuroBioBank program includes five banks that accept donations from individuals with neurological disorders resulting in dementia, including, but not limited to, vascular, frontotemporal and Lewy body dementia. Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease are referred to the Alzheimer's Disease Centers program, as space at the brain banks is limited. The five brain banks are: [...snip..]

Police ‘Confident’ No One Else in Shooter’s Room Before Las Vegas Attack
by Kasie Hunt, Tom Winter, Pete Williams and Phil McCausland

Investigators are "confident" that no one else entered the Las Vegas hotel suite before a gunman opened fire on a crowd of thousands of concertgoers, killing 58 people in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Kevin McMahill said Friday in an interview that police don't believe anyone entered the room at Mandalay Bay prior to the shooting carried out by Stephen Paddock Sunday night.

Earlier, senior law enforcement sources said investigators were puzzled by a charger that did not appear to match any of Paddock’s cellphones. Police have now been able to match all of the cell phone chargers found in the room with multiple cell phones that Paddock had with him.

A motive in the shooting remains elusive. "This agency wants to give answers. We owe it to the victims and the victims' families," McMahill said. "It's really a frustrating piece of this investigation." ...

So confident about no other shooters, but not about an accomplice.

At a Friday press conference, McMahill said they did not think there was a second shooter, but he said it was unclear whether or not Paddock had help.

Oh, I am sure he had help. Websites/Videos showing him how to make legally obtained guns and attachments showing him how to turn it into an illegal killing machine. He may have had help from an unknowing bellhop/s to wheel some of the bags up to his room. Other than that, I believe he acted alone.
