She and #Babcock saw each other about twice a year, more frequently as the got older. In 2012 she was in school so they talked by text etc

Renseurg had seen #Babcock with marijuana once. Usually a couple drinks when they got together. Laura expressed "difficulty at home."

BBM, maybe she won't stand for DM incompetence on cross.

“No communication from her whatsoever” says friend about Laura Babcock.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
She heard about Laura #Babcock's disappearance when Shawn Lerner was rallying Facebook friends to look for her. No communication since.

Shannon Martin‏ @ShannonMartinTV 46s46 seconds ago
"No communication from her whatsoever." The Crown has wrapped questioning. Millard is now up.

“Have we ever met?” “No”

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
This witness appears to be glaring at #Millard as he gets up for cross. #Babcock never mentioned #Millard. "Never."

Shannon Martin‏ @ShannonMartinTV 1m1 minute ago

“Did Laura have the tendency to embellish?” asks Smich lawyer of Laura’s friend.

Shannon Martin‏ @ShannonMartinTV 1m1 minute ago
Smich's lawyer is now questioning Van Runsburg, did Babcock often embellish? She agrees.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Millard is done. Dungey asks if Laura tended to embellish. "Yes, she was an exaggerator." Wouldn't define Laura's character that way

I can realistically see DM telling LB that they were going on vacation and to bring a suitcase full of money for the trip. After they made LB "leave", her Ipad, other valuables and cash were taken as collateral.

On a side note, would going to the court recommend a time to get in line? I believe its on 361 University Ave and don't want to travel all the way downtown if Im not able get in. Thanks.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
In a prev statement witness told police she had decided not to hang out with #Babcock because she would get too drunk. Now says 1 incident

Dungey asking friend about Babcock's drinking and cocaine use. Friend never saw her use cocaine, just told her it was a couple of times.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 2m2 minutes ago
Witness is also testy with Dungey, who is asking about #Babcock's marijuana use.

Crown is getting Renseurg to read a different part of that earlier interview. Remembers her mother had asked her not to hang out with Laura

She left an envelope of cash with her parents. But that leads me to the question of where did $2200 of it go?

Her father testified she left about $1000 in a sealed envelope (not a shoebox, where did that info come from?) on June 30th.

SL testified that when he saw her about a week earlier she had $3200 in cash.

I think some are making too big of an issue regarding what was going on at home with Laura and her parents.

She was 23. She had mental illness issues that Laura herself was discussing with everyone and anyone who would listen. She was taking drugs. She was working as an escort. Her parents were concerned about the group of friends she was running with. She was fighting over trivial things (per SL's testimony) with her Father. She was having big mood swings (again testimony we have heard). She was out of control, coming and going as she pleased until her parents finally put their foot down.

I don't see anything nefarious or questionable in Laura's homelife. I see parents who have boundaries and said enough is enough.

In fact, from personal experience I can tell you that my sister had a similar issue with her son who suffers from mental illness and eventually, when he refused all help and the arguments and the fights were making everybody stressed and sick, they finally said enough. The chaos my nephew was creating was too much. Go find somewhere else to live.

There was a huge divide in what was actually going on at home and what my nephew portrayed to everyone else. His parents were terrible to him, he couldn't go home, he had no money, he wasn't loved, blah blah blah. The truth was that he was sick, refused help and was unprepared to live within the rules of the house. If he got help, and wanted to co-exist with everyone in a fair and pleasant manner, he was more than welcome to come home. A very similar scenario to what Laura's life was looking like in her final months. I think Laura would have been welcomed home if she played by the rules.

It's heartbreaking to hear how vulnerable and desperate she was in the last several months of her life. I am so distressed to hear people speak of her disparagingly and are talking dirt about her life. I hate this.

This poor girl was sick. She was doing what she needed to do to stay alive and have a life. DM used her, most likely led her on, and then threw her away like garbage. Brutal. Laura probably thought she had hit on the guy who was going to save her and in the end he killed her.

Just so unbelievably sad. I hope these two rot in prison for the rest of their lives. Preying on the weak and vulnerable is the lowest of the low IMO.

MOO

That's where my thought process came from. I couldn't remember the exact details and didn't want to write something here off a cloudy memory. <modsnip>

Long & limp to his shoulders, but with messy bangs too. Wearing dark glasses & a too-big suit jacket today.

@HefCHCHNews What is Millard's appearance? The courtroom sketches make him appear to have long hair.

The sale of the gun was $2200, but that was in February 2012.

I was able to take a break from work so I decided to go over to the court and sit in on the trial for a bit. But when I got there I couldnt bring myself to go in. There's evil in that room and I just couldn't do it.

I'm surprised. I went to law school. I don't practice law but I've been to court a number of times. It's not a big deal for me at all but something inside me slammed on the brakes and that was that.

Prayers for strength for Laura's family along with all the witnesses who knew her being called to be there. It would be an awful thing to go through regardless but knowing without a doubt the evil those two are capable of...I don't want to breathe the same air
