Australia Australia - Tanja Ebert, 23, Roseworthy, SA, 8 Aug 2017

alrighty ....I formally give up the idea of the pup, .... I have looked and re looked that clip over again, I no longer can see a wriggling puppy......

But it just goes to show.... one can be murdered at any time.. looking at that small vid clip from Museum security..... strolling along, him pushing the pram, her walking beside him, him talking to her, her responding... I mean.. , how many killers spend the afternoon at the SA Museum , for heavens sake!!...... how many take their victim for a stroll past the artifacts!... not bloody many ,I would claim....... it is incomprehensible that approx. 4 hours after that, she is stone cold dead,. her children are motherless, her husband is a murderer, she is alone out in the desert..... he is fleeing for home.. it defies all logic and reason and that is the inescapable tragedy .... 8 days after that , those kids are motherless and fatherless... it offends the collective conscious, as a Judge said... .. I think it may have been my fave, Justice Lasry who said it......
The timing of the museum visit is weird. At 3pm they are still strolling around the museum, and it's at least 4 hours drive back. Why on earth would you want to have "witching hour" with 2 overtired toddlers in the back seat? Some one mentioned that there was a casino very close by. Is it possible they were planning to stay overnight? Tanja had a "large amount of cash".. Would this be earmarked for gambling? Then there has been an argument for a reason we don't know and them the worst happens.

Marlis is at it again.... . Obviously, she has been thinking stuff over, and has more to add to the tale of Runaway Tanja and the missing $2000. ( from a multimillion dollar enterprise, but hey ) .... it seems that Marlis could 'tell' things, ..

'She claims her daughter-in-law was more than capable of quickly uprooting and told The Advertiser that Ms Ebert, 23, had made it known she wanted to leave her family.

“She had talked about leaving for a while and the children were just in the way,” Ms Burdon said.

“She wanted to leave and buy her own station. Totally unrealistic.

“She had turned against Michael, and the children as well. Even my daughter said she screamed at (her children).'

Marlis, the perfect mother in law, .. even after death, she won't take her fingernails out of Tanja's flesh.....

'She said Mr Burdon, who would “on and off get depressed”, told her he and his wife had been arguing on their way home from Adelaide because Ms Ebert said she was leaving the relationship.

“The children wouldn’t go to her,” she said.

“They wouldn’t have anything to do with her and (Michael) said that was the last straw for her.”

Ms Burdon said it was then that Tanja took off with the wad of cash.

“(Michael) said ‘Mum, I know she takes risks and that’s what I’m scared of’,” she said.'

Marlis, keeper of the legacy for her grandchildren about their Mother and Father... what a gem...

One would hope that Child Protection Services of South Australia would go to any length to keep this woman away from these pitiable grandchildren for the rest of their lives.......... what a fantasist she is determined to be.... .

Marlis says, Mr Burdon, who was 'off and on depressed' which is another way of saying he was incredibly and incurably angry and vengeful, said he and Tanja had argued... and guess what?... yes, that's right, Tanja was in the wrong, again, as usual, so wrong that 'even her children wouldn't go to her;'.. what a yarn, and how cunning, because it is exactly what Marlis Burdon wants to hear!... she swallows this story, because it suits the inner narrative that Marlis loves to tell.

Marlis is determined that the coroners inquest is going to somehow exonerate her son and excoriate her daughter in law. Marlis will be satisfied with nothing less.

Marlis is having a hard time giving up the heady drug of publicity.. putting the boot into Tanja has become her mission, and her compulsion has reached the stage now of screeching crazy, but I don't think Marlis is going to give up anytime soon..

Marlis knows Tanja is dead. She wouldn't have the courage to say these things about Tanja unless she knew, definitively, that she was dead, and that it was safe for Marlis to fantasise. Marlis has this one opportunity to 'rehabilitate' her 2nd dead son, dead by his own hand, like the 1st son, and she isn't going to let go.. Sinking the boot into Tanja has become an obsession, a most unattractive one, but most compulsive behaviour is.......

Marlis even knows where the body is .. this is my conclusion. I reckon her and Michael cooked up this yarn about Roseworthy, the money, the kids, the station she wanted to purchase, the whole backstory has all the hallmarks of Mum and a murdering husband working out a strategy and an operative story line that people will just have to accept.... Maybe Marlis didn't plan on Michael copping out, but it doesn't seem to have deterred her on her mission. The Kicking to Death of Tanja Ebert...

Seems that the rest of the Burdon family are not going to take the steering wheel from Marlis as she drives this yarn right actoss the country, picking up all sorts of extra passengers., like the daughters agreement with Marlis, as Marlis claims.. that's just hearsay, Marlis.. inadmissible. Try again. It will be interesting when other Burdon family members give testimony to the coroner. Will it be the same line as Marlis is taking? or ..??

Marlis thinks that she is painting a picture of her son as the victim of a scheming gold digger, a rabid heartbreaker. a thief, a woman who's own children 'wouldn't go to her'.. but she is, in reality , giving a deep insight into herself and the kind of person her murdering son was. Far more that I am sure she intends to do...

I was wondering to myself if Marlis is a German name... it is...and it means 'bitter'.

and it may be from Marlis' s own life experiences that she dredges up the tsk tsk yarn about Tanja 's escapade.... it is very very odd, that Marlis's story about Tanja ,, what she think Tanja was goin to do, is almost exactly what Marlis actually did , way back in her 30's.......

Telling isn’t it, Troop?

One would think, Bo, that mid interview with the Adelaide Advertiser, right about up to the part where she says ' Tanja planned to leave the kids, they were in the way'. etc... she might have mentioned that when her children were small toddlers, she , Marlis, actually did run away from her children, leaving a trail of heartbreak and fury behind her, but she, Marlis, wasn't left for dead in the desert.

It's the breathtaking nerve of Marlis to tear bits off Tanja, when her own life is one of extreme self indulgence and destruction. And a great deal of psychopathic lying, as well.

Will Tanja ever be found? It might be like Peter Falconio - such a wide area to search and not knowing where to begin. Then again why did husband nut himself - he must have been worried about being caught?

I believe that her body, or artifacts , like what was in her pocket, or even her faded and useless phone will be found. One day.

I can see the possibility that she was murdered anywhere between Adelaide and Oulnina Park... I don't think she made it alive home to Oulnina, but it is possible that her body did.

I have been reluctant to conclude this, but I do think Marlis knows where and how and why Tanja was murdered. She tells a story that Michael said ... ' well.. mum.. she just took off , she is a risktaker etc..'... I believe that was the story she and Michael agreed to and finetuned with each other, those 8 days at Oulnina before the police arrived.

I can't come to the idea that Marlis knew M was going to shoot himself... I think she was aware of the possibility, but it didn't change the story they agreed to. I do think M told his Mum all about it. Possibly , Maris was very understanding... the dynamics between Marlis and Michael would require the entire literature of Freud.

Those 8 days they spent together, with the motherless children... waiting for..what?.. I do not know. . I cant even begin to imagine.,

will Marlis be able to bring herself to an account of everything Michael told her?.. I think she will, one day.. . she will tell someone. I am convinced of that, because Marlis has bucketloads of self justification yet to unload.....

Why did Michael nut himself... and in the most dramatic way available. He, and Marlis must have known the police would turn up one day.. they could put it off by not going to the police themselves, but eventually, it was inevitable, yet they both waited..

I am convinced Michael prepared for that arrival, and had the loaded rifle in readiness, who knows, maybe 2 or 3 in various places for quick access if things went bad. Which they did. The police started off with the idea of a murder having taken place... ... Michael knew.

But there was still a smidgen of power to hold onto. he dies without revealing where body is. . he owns her, up to and beyond the grave. Her parents can't mourn at her grave, her brother cant, her sons cant . Only Michael ( and Marlis, who's outlook would be similar) have that power, either to divulge, or not. Michael has chosen not to. What about Marlis?.. maybe, one day.. .

Sounds like a controlling MIL, of course her darling boy could do wrong...mind boggling what people will do to discredit another. Just revolting!

Michael Burdon's coronial inquest will most likely take place before Tanja's coronial inquest will, mainly because the coroner has the body of Burdon. . Tanja's may well be years away... terrible for her family. Once the Police Commisioners Enquiry as to the matters involving a police shooting is finalized and those findings handed up to the Coroner, then it will proceed.

A small reminder, Coroners Findings are public, unless some very heavy shoulders are lent on in Parliament, which I doubt would be the case for MB.. so it will be published in every detail on the internet, under Coroners Findings, South Australia . Anyone passing by the Coroners court , 302 King William Street, can attend, if they wish. ( hint to SA residents )

Although, I bet Marlis will try and move heaven and earth to make Michaels inquest non public, I don't see that succeeding , because public servants ( the police ) shot him. That makes it a public matter .

Search for suspected murder victim Tanja Ebert continues at couple's Manna Hill property

Police have searched dams and water storage areas at a remote sheep station in South Australia's north-east pastoral district as part of an ongoing investigation into the disappearance and suspected murder of Tanja Ebert.

The 23-year-old mother of two went missing in August and her husband Michael Burdon shot himself dead as police searched the couple's property during the investigation.

Police said Major Crime investigators and Water Operation Unit STAR Group officers returned to the property last week and searched 18 dams and water storage areas at the vast Manna Hill property over three days.

The last known confirmed sighting of Ms Ebert was at the Adelaide Central Market about 4:45pm on August 8.

In August, a wide-scale search, including significant excavation works, was conducted of the 410-square-kilometre property, and since that time police have returned with experts to conduct searches of mines and wells.

Police said they had not ruled out further searches and were urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

thanks for this update, sym..... the Central Market in Adelaide closes at 5.30 on Tuesday.. and on that Tuesday, 8th Aug, sundown was at 5.39pm............ 3/4 hour at the market... isn't long for someone who lives 400 klms away....

Assuming they left the market at closing time... it would be dark by then... dark all the way to Oulnina Park. Would he have driven all the way with his wife's dead body in the back?? with the kids??> .

I don't know what information the SAPOL have that has them searching Oulnina Park. They must be confident that Tanja arrived at the homestead,. alive, or dead. In spite of Michael's tale of the 'agitated' exit of Tanja from the car at Roseworthy, somewhere, the police have had reason to discard that yarn and now have her non exiting the car at Roseworthy, instead, travelling all the way to Oulnina Park.

He would have had to ring his mother and get her on the road up to Manna Hill, at some stage. One presumes, after he killed her. Wherever that was. Whenever that was. He would have got home to Oulnina Park before his mother could travel up from the Eyre Peninsular to the Barrier Highway on to OP. He needed Mum there to babysit the kids, he had work to do.

But he would have spent some time, at least a few hours , at Oulnina Park alone,. That is, just the babies, while he waited for Mum to make it up the Barrier highway, travelling a few hours behind him.

I am reminded of . a long story, years ago.. old photo's of Myra Hindley, looking all mysterious out on the Moors, picture taken by Ian Brady.. the exact spot had significance to them, it's where they buried their victims, ... and I wondered if he buried her up where that pic of them on their wedding day, high up on the ridge above the homestead. ..him looking down behind her.. Right there.

By now, even Marlis, who's claim was that Tanja was out there, people, out there, spending Michaels money, looking for property, having a good time etc, must be questioning her firm belief ... surely, a sane person would be.

Australia is big, sure, and empty and wide and all that stuff, and it doesn't take much to be suddenly very remote from all known parameters, but someone even as cunning as Marlis has tried to make Tanja out to be isn't going to survive in the desert for this long. Not without phone. Even the mysterious '$2000.00 ' isn't going to last this long, even in the desert.

But no backtracking on the story by Marlis... ...

It’d be a rotten MIL to bag the mother of your grandchildren if everyone had a good relationship before she died.
I doubt they had a good relationship.
