Seminole Heights killings: Seven things you need to know about Howell Emanuel Donaldson III

http://www.tampabay.com/news/public...-about-Howell-Emanuel-Donaldson-III_163107154

Not sure I believe him when he says he wasn't familiar with Seminole Heights neighborhood. He and his family live in the Sulphur Springs neighborhood, next door to SH. They're only about 3 or 4 miles from each other. I read somewhere that his family owns a boarded up, vacant property in Seminole Hts. Will have to find the link.

Random speculation.
Interesting to see that the feminine characteristics many of us perceived in the cctv videos, do not seem to carry through when the perp is seen
" in person. "

Wondering what it was like for him with a family in the beauty business, where talk at the family dinner table was presumably often about wigs, nails, hairstyles, makeup ect.
As a kid, did all the customers make a big fuss over him, did sports give him a release from all that, or was there extra pressure for him to engage in " masculine " activities?
Did he have something to prove?

Is it possible a sibling committed the crimes? He has an effeminate brother and a sister.
If they borrowed his gun and hoodie. Are we 100% positive?

I am surprised he wasn't on the police's radar considering he bought the specific type of weapon 2 days prior to the first killing locally. Wouldn't police interview gun shops? I think the perp was sloppy. He may have trusted his coworker more than we imagine. He may have felt uncomfortable about leaving the weapon in the car because guns are commonly stolen from vehicles. There were 5 bullets in the chamber....maybe he was planning another killing.

Good points.

Im also wondering why a witness did not report a red car in the area. That car really stood out with the red color. Maybe he used a different vehicle during the crimes or maybe he had the car parked in the garage of one of the houses in the area as he escaped on foot.

It will be interesting to learn where he exactly went to after running from the scenes of the murders. Its like he was disappearing.

I'm looking for rotten tomatoes to throw at the local station that interrupted the press conference multiple times with commercials. Really bad planning...

The online live version had no commercials.

I predicted that if the shooter had a family he wouldn't be able to sneak out on Thanksgiving w/o them noticing.
I guessed he lived with an elderly grandparent. Looks like he lives with his parents.
If he struck on Thanksgiving my profile is that he had no one in his life. It was quiet last week.

You were right! I'm so glad he wasn't able to kill anyone else.

Arrest report details evidence that led police to suspect in Seminole Heights slayings

TAMPA — Shell casings and cell phone data link the man police arrested Tuesday to four recent murders in Seminole Heights, an arrest report shows
[...].
Investigators found SIG brand Smith & Wesson .40 caliber shell casings at all four of the locations where Monica Hoffa, Benjamin Mitchell, Anthony Naiboa and Ronald Felton were found shot to death between Oct. 9 and Nov. 14, the report states. A forensic analysis by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement concluded that shell casings from the first three murder scenes were fired from a Glock handgun that Donaldson admitted to purchasing on Oct. 3 at Shooter’s World on East Fletcher Avenue in Tampa, the report says. Store receipts showed he picked up the gun four days later, after a mandatory waiting period, along with a 20-round box of SIG brand Smith & Wesson .40 caliber ammunition.

The casings found at the scene of Felton’s murder were not available for comparison but had previously been identified as being fired from the same gun of the first three murders. the report says.

It was that gun, according to the report, that Howell gave in a McDonald’s food bag to a coworker at an Ybor City McDonald’s on Thursday afternoon, saying he planned to leave the state. The coworker turned the gun over to a Tampa police officer who was in the restaurant doing paperwork at the time. The Glock had a loaded magazine containing five unfired rounds of SIG brand Smith & Wesson .40 caliber ammunition, the report says.
Donaldson told police that "no one, except for himself had control of the Glock firearm since his purchase," Detective Austin Hill wrote in the report.

Data obtained from Donaldson’s cell phone showed he was in the area of 1300 E Frierson Ave., in Southeast Seminole Heights, on dates and times that corresponded with the first three murders. Other cell records showed that within minutes of those first murders, on Oct. 9, 11 and 19, Donaldson’s phone was "geographically associated" with an AT&T tower that provided coverage for the areas that include all four murder locations.

What does that mean??

What does that mean??

For some reason it appears they didnt have just the one Felton murder casings on hand to compare but I believe they had the other 3 shootings casings.

Not sure why the 4th Felton murder casings were not available. Maybe at another station. I hope they didnt lose them.

For some reason WS won't let me reply to the post about where he lived.

I believe the info in the article is incorrect.

The house in Sulphur Spring is the boarded up house, owned by his parents. The family home is a bit further away, in the Baycrest area. (Per the property appraiser site.)

I dont know guys as I am getting caught up his body size IMO is different.

I have pondered cross dressing for some time, which could certainly explain some body posture stuff --but that does not do anything to weight!

Mannerisms are often exaggerated once the dress heals wig and makeup are applied.

The "funny" thing is, if he had just walked into his workplace with a bag and asked them to put it under the counter (or wherever) while he went to get a loan, they may not have even looked through it or raised concerns. The fact that he reportedly asked them not to look in the bag was the key.

A Payday loan ? With those kind of interest rates ? Also, he doesn't look much like the person in that video. jmo

You were right! I'm so glad he wasn't able to kill anyone else.

However, I had the age range correct. I am shocked he's a college graduate with a potential of a promising career ahead of him. I assumed he was involved with a gang or wanted to be respected, to terrorize others.
I still think whomever he lives with doesn't pay attention to his coming and goings or are too busy to notice.
I'm shocked he seems to have a loving, supportive successful happy family.
So I'm leaning psychopath killer than just gang initiation now.

He has a masculine sister.

Speaking Wednesday morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Dugan said police will still need the public’s help as they try to learn more about the suspect.
“He was pretty non-responsive; wasn’t angry,” Dugan told ABC. “It was a very subdued, strange behavior in my opinion. But whoever does something like this, Lord knows what’s driving them.”

Donaldson asked for a lawyer while talking with investigators, according to the report.

He was being held without bail Wednesday in the Hillsborough County jail pending a court appearance Thursday.

Most people who need a payday loan do not care about the interest rate, they just need cash asap.

The Police Chief said he is 100% sure he is the murderer.

Watch the video of him posted above - he's walking at the police station. He is lean with perfect posture - those are traits from the previous videos. I totally see the resemblance.

The weight of a gun is usually pretty heavy. And I think previous reports indicated the gun used in the killings was a large weapon so I think it must have weighed quite a bit.

If I had received a bag then from the heavy weight alone I would have knew something like a gun could be in it. The whole episode would have raised their suspicouns as it sounds really bizarre.

Which is why a lot of us think he maybe wanted to get caught. Maybe subconcously. Almost like suicide by cop without the suicide or shooting part. :)
