Casinos have cameras and lots of them. Since the casino is on the same highway as the Closs home it would make sense they want that footage. It might show the vehicle of the perpetrator "if" they drove in that direction.

Was it stated by LE that the crime scene is a 14 mile stretch from the Closs home to the casino?

RE: Septic tank. It is possible they had a HOLDING tank vs mound or traditional septic. These simply hold waste, don't process it. They need to be pumped fairly often, could even be monthly depending on the size.

They are much cheaper to install than traditional septic tanks. They aren't ideal, but I have seen other homes with them. It isn't insanely uncommon.

If they had replaced it, I would expect a permit in the GIS website and I am not seeing anything like that. The sanitary permit application was made in 2009, there aren't any other permits that I can see but pumping it out isn't exactly cheap, either.

Are you searching by address or name? Permits are often gotten in the name of the contractor. Our septic guy took care of all that. Our roof guys did, too.

This is pure speculation and more to do with *potential* psychological insight —

In one of the videos by police (on Facebook) it was stated that last year the mom had posts up about Jayme. Lovely post, but I noticed they said last year. What about the last 10-12 months?? What’s been going on? Also, there weren’t many current photos of Jayme available. Just a recent school photo. I don’t always post to fb and maybe the mom wasn’t that into it, but perhaps things changed within the family dynamic to cause her to engage in sm less. Perhaps the mom didn’t talk about her daughter much to give her privacy. Or perhaps, her daughter’s brain was scrambled due to puberty and they had some issues (not a judgement — it’s 90% common at this age and teens always come back around) This family are victims 100% but perhaps there was something going on, maybe online, that friends and family weren’t aware of.

Something does seem “off” to me. That’s all I can say (tos) but this murder and disappearance is due to either complete randomness or the answer is right under the LE’s nose. I don’t have a good feeling about the outcome this AM. ),; Please God, Let me be wrong.

Perhaps mom has posted more recent photos and updates. Privacy settings can be changed on individual posts. Perhaps mom shared with Friends only?

It's possible that the weapon used came from the Closs household.

If the police have shell casings/empty shells, a search of the home might turn up a box of shells/rounds with at least the requisite number of shells missing. Not finding any boxes of ammo wouldn't eliminate the possibility the perp took the unspent rounds along with the weapon; but finding unspent shells which match the fired shells found at the scene would suggest the perp did not arrive with their own weapon. Rather, possibly events transpired and the shooter took control of the Closs weapon and turned it on them; before departing with Jayme and the Closs' gun.

I think it's more likely they came with their own weapon. The father was shot as soon as the door was opened. Also, they clearly came here for a reason and should have come prepared for a confrontation. Living in a rural area.. Also known for hunting..would make it more likely that homeowners have guns, and I doubt the perps would take a chance by not coming with their own weapon(s).

Forgive me for not keeping up, this idea may have been floated already, but after dwelling on this for a bit I think it’s entirely possible that this isn’t about the Closs family at all. The chain of events as we know them just do not fit an abduction, a home invasion/robbery, or even a vengeful murder. No motive along those lines works without some serious contradictions.

It seems to me that the motive was simply to commit the most horrific crime possible on this family, almost as if to send a message. A message to who? I don’t know. Somebody close to the family. Obviously my opinion only, but that’s where I’m leaning right now.

Good point, I searched by parcel but that is how it is listed in Barron County I believe. It has the plumber's name listed on it as well.

I don't think this case involves sex. Would be extremely rare for a child molester to kill two people in order to abduct a girl. Its just too easy and less risky to do it in other ways. I will say that I still do consider an unknown boyfriend to be a viable theory though.

I think this case is about sex. I don't think the perp wanted a one-time assault, but to keep Jayme. In order to keep her, he needed to get rid of her parents. With her parents gone, she is broken and has nowhere to return (in his mind; she does indeed have extended family), the parents cannot prevent him from taking her and keeping her, the parents cannot identify him to LE.

My hunch (and it's only a hunch) is that the perp was fixated on her innocence and youth - someone who wanted a "pure" "wife," perhaps.

My hope is she is being kept somewhere and will be found sooner rather than later.

And $1k wouldn't even cover a months rent or mortgage for most in the area.

So now we may have addicts waiting for a higher reward before mentioning anything.

Maybe they think in this particular area a high reward will just drown out the real tips with junkies who want money coming up with fake tips. They could also have some idea that a reward wouldn't be helpful in this particular case.

Bow hunting (deer)has already started, gun hunting doesn't for about a month.
Turkey hunting is going on right now.
Bear hunting just ended.

Yeah I live in rural WI-when we were moving we looked at a home we loved but it had a holding tank. We cut it from our list based on that alone, would have been crazy expensive to put in a new septic system if it would even be possible. Sometimes holding tanks are used when the soil composition won't work for septic.
Super expensive over time to get it pumped constantly. But it happens. Rural home problems!!!

Replying to my own picture post. Zecats pointed out that the overhead porch light is on! I never, once noticed that. I wonder if LE turned it on when they arrived that morning? Would be interesting to know. If it was on before perp arrived, he sure wasn't trying to conceal who he was if he entered at the front door.

I noticed that there were lots of LE at the side porch entrance. There may have been some activity there as well. Perhaps two individuals covering both entrances? Just a thought. BBM

Why hasn't Jennie-O confirmed his schedule on that Sunday?

I'm sure they have given it to LE. Most companies have strict policies against giving out employee info such as schedules to the public/press.

Seeing they have a big meth problem there, the father or mother could have squealed on someone and they lost their job. They needed money for their addiction, this could be the reason for the rage. I HOPE LE checks out every know meth addict and their friends ASAP.

Do we know if Jennie-O requires random drug tests for their employees? Otherwise, I'm not sure how James would know that about the employee to "squeal". And just a reminder (I know you didn't say this) but we still have not confirmed he was in management or any position where he would be able to fire anyone.

It does seem unusual, I believe the law here is every 36 months for pumping and every visit was for pumping the holding tank.

Wow. We had no law where I lived in MN. My poverty neighbors were polluting a trout stream.

When a neighbor called the county to complain, the county said that the people were too poor to replace the system at a minimum of $15,000
