UID Victim: "Cherries", Mamaroneck, Blk/Hisp, 605UFNY, found Mar 2007

I saw someone on another site who believes they may know who she is. I told them to come here for any help with submitting a name bc they didn’t know how to or where to go. The person they think it is fits in the age range and was also a sex worker. She also has no family in the US that the person is aware of . I hope Cherries is finally able to be identified.

No. Phrased that poorly. The clothing seems to point to her being local, at least having lived in the area long enough to visit one of those small stores.

Gotcha. Yes, I would definitely agree with that. Could also be someone who lived with, or is close to, a local.

Any word?
Where does she think she's from if she has no family in the US?

Police hope a cherry tattoo will help identify a woman whose torso was found on a New York beach.
A beachcomber found the dismembered body part in a suitcase at Harbor Island Beach in suburban New York City on Saturday, the Journal News reported.

"There's no hair, no fingerprints, no DNA, and the other body parts are spread out over God knows where," said William Paonessa, the deputy mayor of Mamaroneck.

The body part, which was not badly decomposed, was found in a dark-colored bag and is believed to be a woman of Hispanic or African American descent.

The tattoo — two cherries on a green stem — is on her right breast.

Officials believe the body may have washed up during floods Friday in Westchester County.

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call Detective David Casterella or Detective Sgt. Robert Holland of the Mamaroneck police at 914-777-7743 or call the main police line at 914-777-7780.

Gilbert had cherries tattooed on her wrist. Any chance these are brands?

Gilbert, at the time of her death and/or disappearance had mentioned to Joseph Brewer about accidentally booking an escort who was transgendered and if it had ever happened.

This is, reportedly, when the altercation between them began. Brewer stated that he felt she had something to hide at this point.

Is there any chance that Gilbert knew about the other missing girls? Including "John Doe" the transgendered Asian victim? Maybe she suspected Brewer could have possibly had something to do with her disappearance?

Maybe Brewer thought she had been concealing a wire?

Brewer states that he suspected that Gilbert was transgendered and asked Pak (also Asian) to remove her from the house, but maybe this was a lie to conceal the real reason Brewer felt threatened by Shannan and had asked her to leave?

Any thoughts?

Where did you get that information from?

Anyone else ever heard this before?

Sad that the lead mentioned in post 241 seems to have gone cold.

As for the calendar that everyone keeps talking about, do we know on what month's page the "cinco" and "begin to live" were written? I understand that the calendar was torn apart, so determining on which page the text was written might not be possible.

If the text was written on the page for March, perhaps Cherries was planning on making a major life change on March 5. That life change could have been leaving sex work (if she was a sex worker at all) or leaving a toxic relationship. The "begin to live" suggests to me that she previously had experienced a quality of life so low that it couldn't even be considered living or that there was some factor in her life that was preventing her from living life at its fullest. Maybe I'm just looking too much into this, but I don't know.

The date of March 5 also lines up with the date of discovery and estimated date of death as well, as her torso was located only two days prior on March 3, and she is believed to have died not long before then.

I've read that the remnants of this calendar were tucked away and hidden within the suitcase containing her torso. The fact that the calendar or whatever it was that contained this message was ripped apart and perhaps even hidden intentionally suggests that it may be really important to the motive of the case or Cherries's life, and as such, the killer didn't want it to be found or deciphered. I'm still conflicted about this, though. Aren't there many better methods to dispose of paper that someone doesn't want to be found?

I'm sure I haven't said much that hasn't been said already earlier on in this thread, and this is all baseless speculation, but this is just my impression of the writings on the calendar.

Mamaroneck torso: Police seek help identifying woman's body that washed ashore in suitcase

It has been 13 years since a woman's torso washed up in a suitcase in Mamaroneck.

Village police are still trying to identify the remains that were found at Harbor Island Park on March 3, 2007, and they are hoping a new push for the public's help will lead to someone recognizing the tattooed body.

"Someone murdered her, which was in a very gruesome, awful, violent way," Detective Sgt. Mark Gatta told The Journal News/lohud on Monday. "But then they stole her identity, so it's almost like being victimized twice. If we can give her an identity, maybe we'll be that much closer to figuring out who did it."

The woman had a tattoo, a bit bigger than an inch, above her right breast that depicted two cherries on a stem. She may have been a light-skinned Hispanic or black woman, about 35 to 50 years old, police said. She may have stood about 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed 160 to 200 pounds.
---
In 2007 Westchester County's medical examiner said the woman died about a week before her remains washed up on a beach in Mamaroneck.

Almost four weeks after that suitcase floated ashore, a severed leg washed up on the Long Island estate of Cablevision CEO and New York Knicks and Rangers owner James Dolan. The Nassau County coroner determined that leg belonged to the woman whose torso was found in Mamaroneck.

The case was featured on "America's Most Wanted" that spring and police passed around fliers locally and made inquiries at tattoo parlors and in Hispanic communities in the area, Gatta said.

A significant amount of tips flowed in for a couple of years, but after a few years nothing was coming through about the case, he said.

Anyone who may have information on the case is urged to call Gatta at 914-825-8588. All calls will be kept confidential.

Mamaroneck Police Detective Sergeant Mark Gatta told NBC4 that the killer eliminated chances of the victim being identified by dismembering her.

'She's been victimized twice. Somebody... murdered her and then they stole her identity, which is almost worse,' Gatta said. ''

I will not rule out Robin vansickel so soon.

besides the Cherry tattoo which could well sit on the front of her shoulder. It was also previously seen that a torso has been found and meant to be black, but subsequently showed to belong to a white woman.

I've researched that she was just one of a group of girls connected to the underground of sex and drugs in Alaska, connected to New York that disappeared over a number of years. And where 2 of the girls' torso were found in Alaska, washed up on a beach in 2003 without head and legs. A frightening resemblance in my opinion.

It cannot be ruled out what the police believe it may be a serial killer who later moved, as it subsequently became relatively quiet up there.

A businessman and a pimp were convicted of abusing and selling young girls in houses bought for the purpose. They raped, them, tortured them and rented them out.

Some of the women forgave they operated alone, but there was always a pimp nearby who kept an eye on them, so they could not escape.

It is also shown that this draws deep traces of corruption and abuse of power. And these women often dont know who they can trust.

Personally, I dont want to rule out a serial killer in the field of sex trafficing. And I have left a note to the Police i NY. About it.

Sadly no updates to my original post. The last update from the poster was two years ago. They did pass on the little info they had, even though it isn't current. They received a thank you email along with notification that it could be awhile before anything is looked at. PM me if anyone wants me to share the link to where this was posted and maybe try and reach out to the original poster.

Can anyone access this article?

Newspapers.com - Historical Newspapers from 1700s-2000s › news...
The Journal News from White Plains, New York on March 9, 2007 · Page 14

It's from when they first found the body. They initially thought it was a different missing woman. Can someone with access to this article help me out?

Please and thank you

Just read on Murderinc an article about Cherries. The article states that her dna was taken and body parts were matched through dna. So, why is no one using dna genealogy to get an id? valerie Mack was id’d so it’s not the New York laws
