CA CA - Barstow, HispFem 14-19, UP6718, severed head in backpack, Feb'10

I don't know how either. but if they don't have DNA, they could possibly contact her family and obtain some.

I noticed that too. I don't know how to submit, I just like to make suggestions here. If anyone thinks its worth the investigators looking into, please submit. Thanks.

Ummm I just clicked on this...but have to state the obvious. Not possible Homicide. SMH

Updated link: Unidentified Person Case

added to ruleouts:

Yareli Barajas from Maricopa, AZ and Stephanie Pinero Morales from Puerto Rico.

I don't see Vevelina Rodriguez and Meghan Hodgdon on the current ruleouts, though they were there earlier. The new listing has two null entries that point to cases that are no longer in Namus (or aren't visible) so I suspect Vevelina and Meghan may have been located, maybe?

Decaptiation, sounds like typical cartel MO, moo. Or maybe SK?

“High quality dental care” stands out, imo.

Note to look what other similar cases there been been, if any.

This is horrific. I hope this young lady gets her name back.

Yareli has now been ruled out but Patricia and Stefania haven't been yet...

I guess if they weren't able to determine the cause of death, they were able to find out that she was dead before the dismemberment took place (since if she were alive beforehand, that would definitely be what killed her).

I think that she may have been shot or stabbed somewhere on her body that has not been found yet.

Sorry for double posting, but I just realized how different the new recon looks from the first two. I see that even the shape of the nose looks a little different. It makes me wonder about the extent of the disfigurement done to her body; I know Carl said earlier on the thread that LE (?) told him that her face was essentially "removed".

When I looked at the PM photo of her ears posted earlier in this thread, I saw a weird, indented line next to one of them stretching off-frame towards the front of her face, and I wonder if that line was part of the damage. (No need to repost the image; it's already somewhere here and I don't care to see it again without anticipating it.)

Homicide Detectives Investigating Female Skeletal Remains Found in Desert Area Near Barstow

Could this be the rest of her? It's never said whether or not a skull was discovered among the skeletal remains. If the skull wasn't recovered, this could be significant.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
I found another case from San Bernardino County of partial skeletal remains where the skull was not recovered. The sex and race of this person are unknown, and their age is unknown other than the fact that they appeared to be over 18.

I know that authorities think Barstow Jane Doe might have been killed by a serial killer. Taking that into consideration, I found a few more cases in San Bernardino County of skulls located alone without the limbs or torso nearby.

Human skull located in a bedroom by new owners of a residence: https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/17412?nav
Skull with soft tissues intact located in a field:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

There were some others, but those remains were mostly found in deserts and wooded areas. In those cases, I think that the most likely explanation is that scavenging and animal activity separated the head from the rest of the remains, and that foul play isn't certain.

To be completely honest, I'm skeptical of the idea that a serial killer was responsible for Barstow Jane Doe's death. I think there's a high chance that she was killed by someone she knew and who had personal animosity towards her.

There's been a post on another website discussing this case, and the users there were able to provide some potentially significant background information. Apparently, there's a major meth problem in Barstow, and some people think that there's a good chance that this could have been drug related.

I've also always thought that if BJD actually was not murdered (although I personally think the chance of this not being a murder is close to zero), perhaps it was due to an accidental overdose? If this is what happened, though, I really don't understand the need to go so far when it comes to mutilating the body and making her recognizable.

I found this thread linked from the website mentioned above, and thought I’d chime in. Three of the cities where Fiesta Foods are Known locally as being high gang areas- Moreno Valley, Rialto and San Bernardino. Fontana has Gangs as well. I am wondering if this is gang related, and whoever did this just drove 30 minutes up the hill and dumped her head. Maybe she cheated on someone, maybe she snitched? There is also a large number of foster kids in Moreno Valley. One would assume she would have been reported if she was a minor and in foster care, many of those kids are invisible.
